Tough call
The aftermarket couplers are nice, but I've read about tolerance issues which causes drive train noise.
I know Doug@ECS broke his at the track once. (I bought the HD after that)
Far as I know, never heard anyone else breaking the stock coupler.
But, if you got the bucks & don't mind a little noise, I'd do it.

Hey guys I am going the other way from A4 to m12. Can one of you m6 or m12 guys measure the size of the hole in the firewall where the clutch line comes out of? Maybe like 2 inches or so??? I have never seen a 6 speed in person so i want to get everything correct the first time

RPM use to make a version that has a clamp. Let me dig up a picture.
Got the new driveshaft buttoned up. All new bearings and drilled and tapped the holes to 12mm with rpm poly couplings.
Also there are 3 holes 1 has a bolt in it the others dont, what is this for. just leave it alone?
Was gonna leave the diff alone but decided to try the new eaton carrier unit.
Im about ready to install the drivetrain just gotta run the wiring which leads me to more problems.
So i called rpm and the told me pcs controller will go behind the battery, so i put it there and stretched out the other wires and the tranny connector stops at the tunnel shield. so its to short or im doing something wrong.
Need lots of help on wiring so i can get this done
This is a great thread. I'm going to start my auto conversion on my 01 Z soon.
I've got a complete swap out of an auto.
3 questions I'd like clarified.
1) the guy I'm getting the auto set up says he's giving me the wiring harness too.
If i understand the posts here so far, this harness terminates in a cannon plug and I have to buy the other half of the harness from a vendor like RPM that will have the proper leads to install into the PCM
2) there is a bracket that needs to be welded in the tunnel to attach the shiffter cable to?
Where can I get this bracket? Think I could make a suitable bracket?
3). The purple and yellow wires from the clutch don't have to be pulled out, as the new harness will have the proper wires that attach to the neutral safety switch.

Thanks.
1.) Not sure when your 2001 was built, but there were some minor changes mid year 2001 to some of the harness connections.
2.) RPM sells the bracket. Need to be welded up in the tunnel.
3.) Don't touch the wires inside. "C146" connector will plug into tranny harness connector and run back to tranny switch.
