The replacement motor is likely to cost nearly as much as your blower kit.

I think this is bad information to be sending around. There are plenty of people, me included, who decided to go forced induction and did not want, 1. for someone else to ANY of the work and 2. to have someone else tune it.

I would say that my abilities are well above average for this kind of stuff but it is nothing that someone cannot learn if they take the time to do so. I have never done anything mechanical on a C5 and have never used LS1 Edit, I have complete installed my A&A Kit and tuned it so far. There are plenty of places with good information out there. I would encourage ANYONE to try to install this stuff themselves and learnt to tune and maintain it yourself.

It is not a matter of money, I just like to do my own stuff. If you do not like to do your own installs and tuning, that is fine, but this guy is obviously trying to learn and telling him just to forget it and let a "professional" do it is crap.

Here is my suggestion:
Buy a copy of LS1 Edit or HP Tuners...

www.carputing.com
www.hptuners.com

Buy a wideband oxygen sensor
www.zeitronx.com

Start with your stock program and follow the instructions.
I can send you a spark map to start with.

For the DTC1514 you need to go into the table and adjust for the error, when you get this code the car is going into limp mode.
Estimate how much boost you are running... for me it was 8psi.
So (14.7+8)/14.7 = 1.54
Take the entire table and multiply it by 154%, if there are any values that are still below 500.. raise them to 500. This will get rid of any errors relating to DTC1514

Also.. you need to change your setting in the torque controls.. this could be causing you some issues as well.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=922634

I also posted plenty of information here.

You can do this on your own, a dyno is nice.. but there are some nice long straight roads in Saudi Arabia right?

Hope this helps.

If you have edit then you can fix all of your issue with a problem.

Go to LS1 Edits web site, they have a free scanner.. it is very archaic in its capabilities, have some patience with it, that is all I have been using, it works fine, just has some bugs that make it lock up and stop taking data.

Firstly, if you think you can do, then do. We'll hear from you again in a few months that "my #7 piston grenaded and I don't know why." Oops the AFR was 12.5
Secondly, the tuners I have spoken with here on the forum have said , given their preferrence they would rather tune a car on a dyno than just using a stock tune they have had success with as each car is different.
Thirdly, if you spend enough time here you'll see lots of bad experiences form guys that tried to cut corners or felt they knew enough.
Forthly, It's not bad info I'm spreading. It 's a warning for others who may think you can slap a blower on and race down to the track.
Finally, It's just my opinion that's also shared by many others.
No hard feelings. It's your dollar.

Well, this is 1 tuner that prefers the street instead of the dyno I run widebands and know where to start timing. The dyno will never tell you if you are detinating under load!! I've had way too many cars at my shop because they were dyno tuned by others and have alot of KR in them.I call them "Dyno Queens"

Let me rephase that from least preferred to most preferred:
1) No tune at all (ran outta cash)
2) DIY (time will tell)
3) Mail order (quick and un-reliable)
4) Dyno tune (involved but quicker)
5) Street tune (best but time consuming)

That should satisfy everyone

Buy a good scanning program like an "EASE program", install it on a laptop computer and drive your car with the program running for about 45 minutes in different conditions. Retrieve the "scanned" drive session on your laptop and make your tune adjustments from there with a tuning program such as an LS-1 edit or HP tuners. HP tuners had it's own scanning program included.

If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, then John Rover of www.teamzr1.com can do a tune for you over the computer and by phone if you have a laptop. I had him do my tune over the phone and computer. His phone number is: 541-389-0312.

I use EASE... scans 68 functions of the vehicle (not all are important for engine managment) and gives you information on how the car is running. You can then make changes to the engine managment program by evaluating the scanning software info.
