Actually I have gotten some very good advice here and I wanted to see if anyone ever regretted buying a convert. Plus I wanted to see if anyone would oooh and ahhh about HUD and Z supsension and/or active handling which only the vert has. So believe it or not this type of info was helpful. Besides it appears people love their Converts, something I wanted to make sure that passion existed for the C5 vert.
Actually, coupes outsell verts year after year. I think maybe that vert owners have no free time on their hands and are able to post in this forum more often!!!!!
Seriously, I had a Corvette vert for 22 years and enjoyed it fully at least 50% of the time. The other 50% was spent with the hardtop on and I can tell you without hesitation that a coupe with a glass targa top is lightyears better than a vert with the top up. The vert with top-down is more enjoyable than the coupe with the targa off, but the difference is not nearly as great as that of the top-up comparisons.
So, my opinion at this time is that everyone should at least try out a vert at some point in his/her life. After that, it's all in personal preference. I wouldn't trade MY coupe for anything!

I'm sure that one of the reasons coupes outsell verts is that they cost about $5,000 less.
FWIW- When I was looking for mine it HAD to have Z51 and HUD. No regrets here. Have you bought your ticket yet? If not, maybe you should fly me down there. (Almost 2 feet of the white stuff still on the ground. )

Convertibles aren't for everyone, as per the above. I'm just not sure what makes the coupe lightyears better . There is a world of difference between a C4 convertible and a C5 convertible. Maybe we can all agree to disagree - the coupe owners are happy with their cars and the convertible owners are ecstatic with theirs! The other point to agree on is that the C5 convertible is lightyears better than the C4 convertible.
I wouldn't have a Corvette coupe, personally. It's just not the same experience. And I don't care much about the top up experience, because I rarely drive it that way. But it's warm/cool and quiet with the top up and dry!
Get what you want - the best advice I can offer is to buy the best equipped and maintained, lowest mileage car you can afford.
ok I'm a little late and this is a bit off topic . . . but i was wondering the same thing, copue or vert?
But my question is how much slower is the vert due to added weight? I mean does anybody kno how much 1/4 time u give up by getting a vert over a coupe??

Ragtops Rule!!! The Vert weighs 2 (two) pounds more than the Coupe - I do not think 2 pounds will effect your quarter mile times
