Two sayings come to mind "growing old is Mandatory, Growing Up is Optional!" "Never regret growing old, it is a privilege denied to many!" kudos for you thouhtfullness, everyone should be so respectful and kind to our seniors. Many of us will be there someday.
Worth repeating after seeing this lovely couple still enjoying the Corvette lifestyle. May we all be this blessed.
What a great story. Really gave me goose bumps reading it. You've topped off a great encounter by offering to take him for a ride. Outstanding! I hope he enjoys the ride as much as you will for doing such a kind deed.
Very Very Cool!!
See if you can gather up some other Vettes in the area to go with you. Can you imagine his face if 8 or 10 Vettes pulled into the parking lot just to see him?
Great Story, Tomorrow, I am taking my 83 yr old Father, a Normandy Vet also, to the WW2 VE Day celebration in my (had it just over a month) 2000 Convertible. He loves it, We are surprising him with a ride home in a 42 WW2 Jeep...Bet he'd never have imagined. May 8th, 60th anniversery of VE Day...Keep the Faith.
Thank your father for his service. I find it so amazing what they did. My Dad went in as a PFC and retired a Full Colonel. My Uncle went in as a Seaman and retired a Rear Admiral. Both did their time in WWII and Korea. I did a few tours in Viet Nam, but they were for 12 to 13 months at a whack. My Dad went and didn't get home for 6 years.
He flew P-47's, 51's, and B-17's. I have some 51 time and some B-25 time, and those guys had some gonads.
From this veteran of 24 years I can say with all honesty, WWII Jeeps, M151s, HumVs, and a C5, I'll take the C5 as my old bones don't want to do what I want them to much anymore.
God Bless and I'll try to keep you all posted on Patrick.
Great story! Please post again after he goes for the ride...I bet he will be thrilled!
That is a great story! That is one of the many reasons I love this car! You get the privledge to meet so many great and interesting people. Plus you made the guys day by spending a few minutes with him. He will never forget it.
