The only reason other detectors get rated as beating the V-1 is because they choose to influence the testing because other companies sell through outside vendors and also offer discounts. They tend to skew the testing towards whoever pays better. Valentine only sells direct the same price to everybody. Their reputation and the arrows speak for themselves.

If that realy was the case then Valentine should do their own testing. Sounds to me to be an easy cop out for not competing with newer products

I bought my Bel 995 for 2 reasons
1. it works WITH the 905 laser pro ( the two are made to work in conjunction with each other)
2. to pizzz off V1 users (just kidding)

i like having the laser jammer, here its a must.

I was getting ready to push the "I DO" button on the BEL RX65 and just for the hell of it, I checked their site. They now have an up-graded version (RX75) and it cost 500+ If you check out E-bay you can get the RX65 for $265. (NEW in the box)

Soooooo, I'm still on the fence. Right now, I'm doing it without protection (#*%&^ ) I mean a without a detector.

We need to up-date ENGLANDGREEN's avatar: We need to put a "V" surrounded by arrows on his belly just below that "H"!

I've come to this "war" late, as a newbie to this site, but here's my 2 cents.

The V1 arrows are cool because, after you slow down right away because it's going off, you can see that it's one signal, look ahead with certainty, find the LEO or harmless roadside speed display, and quickly respond accordingly: stay slow or pick it up again. (I dislike uncertainty and delay.) The remote display is cool because it's nice to know what those behind and around you don't know.

The 8500 is great for its size, features, effectiveness, and price. I also think it's cool because it's supposed to work with the Shifter ZR3. In fact, that last feature especially makes me consider replacing my V1.

you can have the best detector in the world, but if they use laser, which they mostly do now. theres no chance. one shot and your done. radar is out of date and the pigs know it.

Bell Pro has upgradable software and will detect all radar. That's what I would buy.

Crap, just bought RX65 for full price. Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Oh well, been running it in the company rig and it seems to work pretty good.

Ahhhh.... two contradictory quotes from the site....

"If every condition in the test is not exactly the same for every radar detector tested, then the test results are not fair and are not completely accurate.Any handheld radar or laser gun must be held in the exact same position or results will vary"

"We believe that the most accurate test results you can get is to test all the detectors in "real world" situations, and over long periods of time. This is exactly what we have done."

Obviously not everything can be the same over long period tests....

My guess is they gave higher scores to the ones they make more margin on .....
