There's a syndrome for many Corvette owners that are young and its' called " Black and White Fever. " The bottom line is that the Cop probably didn't even know you were there .
Average age 55
Average weight 240 and average height 6'0"
80% are Replublican and consider themselves conservative
Insurance is less expensive for this high performance sports car. This is actual statistical proof that we are more cautious.
We tend to really really take care of our cars. 2-5% deviation at best.
The cars get great gas mileage.
They way some in society view us.
Some in Law Enforcement definetely target us
(for various reasons; boredom, profilling, interest in the cars, look to write a citiation, etc.).
The owners are Reckless.
The cars are dangerous.
The owners speed more so than others.
The cars get poor mileage.
I would venture to say many minivan drivers, subcompacts, SUV's drivers drive
1) Faster overall
2) More reckless
3) Well outside the confines of their vehicles ability
4) Well outside the confines of their abilty.
5) Tend to tailgate, swerve in tight traffic, etc.
6) Be less aware of their surroundings. For my part, I do not even like to park anywhere near someone else that appears to have nothing to lose or does not take care of their vehicle. If they cannot take care of their own vehicles, they certainly do not care about ours.
My two cents of rambling. First thing, I do when I see one the above drivers is get as far away as comfortable and safe.

I'm 22, 155lbs and 5'10". So i guess i got some catchin up to do the 'seasoned' corvette owner eh?
Thats so true, i'm more scared of the Soccer Mom in a 5500 lb freight train, err SUV doin 75 in a 60 on the cell phone while breakin up the kid fight in the back... Than i am of the guy in a Porsche/Corvette or other similarly priced sports car...
When i laughed that C5 insurance was cheaper than my 2003 Eclipse GTS the insurance lady on the phone flat TOLD ME that the statistics say corvettes crash less, and the Demographic of the owners are generally more safe!
I usually only drive about 3-4 mph over the speed limit but I still don't like it when a leo gets on my tail. I have never had a ticket and don't plan on it. I especially don't want a b.s. ticket because some leo is having a bad day and decides to screw with me.
One recent example of MANY involving SUV's like Lincoln Navigator's, Cadillac Escalades, Chevy Tahoe's etc, where significant crimes were associated with a specific vehicle.
Not a specific vehicle, call a spade a spade.
P.S. - When I had my 89 back in 92 I was pulled over one day for absolutely nothing. The cop walks up to me and asks me who's car it was. I had to show him my d/l and registration then he let me go. That kind of stuff is crap and its wrong. Just because I was young and in a nice car I was pulled over. We have a thing that is called the U.S. Constitution and it talks about unlawful search and seizure and it is designed to stop just this kind of b.s. but like so many parts of the Constitution we change it to fit our needs at any given time. Okay I am climbing off the soap box now.

Here is my take on this.... you gave yourself away in the first few sentences,,,
"The cop was far behind you" then came up on you fast and stuck with you...
It is impossible to tell from Far behind who is driving.. even from right behind it is hard...
Ive been driving corvettes for 40 years, No cop has ever done this to me.. even when I was 18.... its not the driver that gets their attention its the manner in which the driver is driving, that gets their attention... or the noise, or the revving and racking the pipes... Also local cops can view unacceptable driving habits while off duty.. So when they are on duty, they may want to harass you for child like behavior... its no mystery...
The kids are the ones who post stories of street racing on this forum. Kids are the ones who like to show off on the street.,,, None of us are blind... and again this is no mystery to any of us...
If you're a show off, you are going to get harrassed...If you act suspicious your going to get looked at...BTW, there are many 40 and 50 year old children driving these cars too....

Unlawful search and seizure???? Did he ask you for your license and registration???? Didn't you give it to him???? Why didn't you stand on your constitutional rights and say NO!!!!
You see when a cop pulls me over to check to see if I own my car... I thank him... he is protecting my investment... in someone cases he just wants to check out the ride.... which again I do not mind... it also cements a relationship with a local LEO... if your going to act like an *** you might as well be treated like one... If the cop knows you are cool, its in your best interest...
Are there bad cops??? sure.. They are always under the microscope for their actions,... most of the bad cops get weeded out.. 90 % are dedicated to the job...
If you have a Red or Yellow or E Blue vette with loud pipes, you are going to be pulled over. Fair? I don't know - it doesn't matter. Life is not necessarily fair. Get over it. Nobody seems to notice my 02 triple black/Tis with the fat old guy driving.
I was driving to meet my brother for lunch obeying the speed limit enjoying the tune of my LG pro long tube headers and corsa indys when I hear my radar detector go crazy behind me on a k band, so I look in my mirror to see a cop really far behind me start to speed up rapidly towards me in my lane. So I thought I would get out of his way because he looks to be in a hurry, so I pull over two lanes into the slow lane and then the cop pulls right behind me in the same lane. So now im thinking great im going to get pulled over, now I havent done anything wrong but im a younger vette driver and every time I get pulled over I get harassed with the same questions of whos car is this, how do you afford a car like this, and my favorite who are you trying to impress because im not impressed. So I really didn’t want to deal with it. So I stop at a red light and I can see him running my plates so the light turns green the car in front of me begins to go, so I decide to turn right to shake him, I put my blinker on and see that his isn’t on so I think great hes going straight but no, he turns to follow me, sticking right close behind me, so at this point im kind of pissed so I decide to pull over and see what he wants in a college parking lot and when I pulled into the lot he just left. My question is why go through all that trouble and just leave, I was perplexed so took another way back on the highway and got some lunch at Skyway chili and it was delicious.
I hear u man.I am 27 and I am Turkish. So what is the equation young and middle eastern looking(But good looking ) hmmmmm something wrong.Yeah i get that all the time. But it`s been 4 years no tickets so far thank god just hard time. .but none of them was aware of AK47 that i carry under my seat.
They do this to me all the time here in Dallas. At first, it really pissed me off, but after a while, you actually get used to it and don't let it bother you.
Same thing goes for the people that like to tail-gate you. After a while, you don't think anything of it.
I was pulled over one evening and the cop acted like he thought my inspection sticker was expired--I thought, what a MORON!
Just enjoy the car and don't let morons ruin your day
well, im young(26), i drive a '99 frc, and im a cop.......i would have been following just so i could find out what kind of exhaust you had.
dont worry about it. its not always what your imagination makes it.....sometimes it is. dont let other peoples ignorance on jealousy ruin your day.
btw- i got drug tested when i bought mine and i paid less for my used vette than most of the other deputies paid for their new cars. i considered it a compliment!
Yes I do live in pinellis county, and yes my vette is torch red with 2 white racing stripes so I guess it does stand out a bit more than others. But I doubt that another torch red vette with racing stripes was stolen, Im the only one in the area I know of.
Unlawful search and seizure???? Did he ask you for your license and registration????
It should not matter. What if they just came into your house and looked around? You should not be able to be detained, searched, pulled over, etc. unless you have done something wrong. That said I know that you can and it happens everyday.
You see when a cop pulls me over to check to see if I own my car... I thank him
If that is what floats your boat then I am happy for you. You see if I am not doing anything wrong I don't want to, nor do I expect to be, pulled over for any reason, social or otherwise.
