I think he was just checking for outstanding traffic violations. Young with a fast car. All the reasons to think you are a street racer. I remember when I was a teenager and lived down in Texas (Redneck country) ! It got to where I was getting pulled over everyday. I seen cops nearly cause an accident trying to make a U-turn fast enough just to come and pull me over. I got to where when I saw a cop, I would just go ahead an pull over and wait for them. Finally I went and hired an attorney, and it stopped. I think they had a bulletin in all there cars to watch for my car. And I only had a 63 Ford Fairlane. Geeze, if I had a Vette then, they probably would have closed the road with a road block. Then I got a 67 GT Mustang with a Big block 390 with 3 2-v carbs. If I was close to home, hmmmm......... that's all I am going to say.
your lucky... young + vette is instant ticket here
whos car is this?
mine
how do you afford a car like this?
with a better paying job.
who are you trying to impress because im not impressed?
your daughter.
i feel if you ask a smartass question you already know the answer to you deserve a smartass responce. :o dont use these answers
I'm a younger C5 driver too...I worked my butt off to have this car...people need to let us enjoy it!
We'll all proud of you for getting them...
...it's the girlie complaining about "being followed, harrassed", etc. that people need to keep it check.
I'm not followed or harassed...I believe that if a cop is following me or pulls me over...that I did something wrong. Don't worry about the cops unless you did something...just enjoy that vette!
i know the feeling guys i'm 23 and get all kinds of pissed looks buy the older folks.
Some older people are pissed because it took them many years to afford a Vette, but the fact is some people are more fortunate than others and can afford expensive things at an early age, so get over it!
Fact also is that we are ALL lucky to be able to drive these cars, and that MOST people on this planet will never have this experience. You will find people (including cops) everywhere that are jealous of you because of what you drive, what you wear, where you live, how tall you are, how you look, so-on and so-on, that's (unfortunately) the world we live in and something we have to be mature enough to deal with. Just drive safely, stay alert, and ENJOY!

AND WHEN THE COP SAYS TO YOU "WHICH 55MPH SIGN DIDN'T YOU UNDERSTAND?" DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE SAY IN YOUR BEST RAINMAN INPERSONATION " Da third.....Definantly the third" AND FOLLOW WITH " I'm a good driver I only drive on sundays"
That cost me 4points and $238.00
Some people just dont have a sence of humor.
Fist of all I didn’t by my vette to get noticed or pick up women, I bought it because I love how it looks and I love the sound of the loud exhaust, sounds like a sports car of this caliber should, not because I want you to look at me. Second of all this wasn’t a post about complaining about cops, just sharing what happened to me, and see what you guys think about the situation. And third this wasn’t ment to be a post about how younger vette drivers are discriminated because I did say he had me picked out from a distance. And the only reason I didn’t want to get pulled over is because every time I have been pulled over, im always asked question that have nothing to do with what I got pulled over for. So to everyone enjoy these great car and safe cursing.

LOL I am using that 1... Good 1 - I love this forum
What is it about people, feeling 'victimized' for one reason or another? So freaking what you're Black. So, for him to get behind you means something's wrong? For him to ask you if you're okay prompts that type of response? Give me a break!
The ONLY thread I've read on this forum lately where there was definitely sure signs of harassment was a guy and his friend who were in California and got their vehicle searched for drugs because he thought he 'saw them stash something,' and ticketed for 'not using their turn signal' when they pulled over. To top it off, the officer saw the Michigan plates, and said "Michigan, huh? Well, Welcome to California." THAT has been the closest example of harassment I've seen here yet...
The rest of you kittykats need to stop victimizing yourselves with this "uh-ooohhhh... I'm YOUNG so I'm being tailed by a cop," or "I'm Black, so I'm being followed by a cop," or whatever other pansy excuses y'all come up with.
i watched him look in his mirror at me behind him , pull over and get behind me. so your saying he's not f5cking me. and he only asked if i'm ok because he got busted.
i already made my mine up that if he turned on his lights i was going to call the state police and report it while having him follow me to the station with his lights on to talk to the cheif.

It's not about being able to afford it. Anybody can have anything they want if they make it a priority. Nobody (anyway no one I'm likely to know) can have everything they want. e.g I can afford an F430, but I'd have to move, and get rid of the boat etc. It's a matter of priorities; that's why I waited til age 60 to buy my C5
sound like harassment me.
one cop was in front of me than he looked in his rear mirror than pulled over. i went past him and he pulled behind me so i pulled over and he stopped at my door and asked if everything is ok.
my question to him was did you look in your mirror and saw a black guy driving and desided to run the plates? he looked at me and drovew off.
but a did tell the police cheff at the town meeting.
That does not even deserve a response from me, except maybe you MIGHT have some kind of attitude against law enforcement officers.
Not directly related, but to the cops here i have a question,
would stepping on it from the light up to the speed limit (should take about 3.5 sec) be considered reckless driving? or in short is there any legal problem with that
Got a ticket for "careless driving" back when I was young and stupid for that very same thing.

Good idea skippy, then you could about it from your nice little jail cell downtown.

You done yet? You were called out for what you are. Live with it and move on to the next topic.
You didn't get a ticket. You didn't even get stopped. So what's the beef? Sounds to me like you didn't get hurt at all, so what are you complaining about!
My grandfather always said, "Don't holler until you're hurt." I guess some people think that LOE's don't have the right to drive the roadways just like everyone else.
Why are you guys such sissys? If you know you haven't done anything wrong then there is nothing to worry about. I had the same problem the other day. A cop was following me and eventually stopped me. He asked if I knew why he stopped me, I said I haven't the foggiest. I said it certainly couldn't be any more important than the 200,000 arrest warrants that have gone unserved over the last few years, you know the ones they have been writing about in the paper. #1 Thing you do not say to a cop in Hawaii.
He said "You don't have a safety sticker". I tossed the papers I had in my hand onto the floor to show my distaste for waste of time. I told him I took it off because it was hammering the paint job. He goes back to his car and does his cop ****. He was in a blue and white, meaning a rookie and you know you are going to get it. He comes back with a ticket, fine. He asked me my place of work, "I said self employed" he asked what kind of profession and I said "Pimp, who else drives cars like this?" #2 thing you do not say to a cop in Hawaii.
i watched him look in his mirror at me behind him , pull over and get behind me. so your saying he's not f5cking me. and he only asked if i'm ok because he got busted.

Yeah. I'm saying he's not f5cking you, whatever that means. Why would he feel like he got 'busted' by you? And if you drove to the station with him in tow with his lights on, do you HONESTYLY think the chief would give a chit to hear your pitiful story? "This officer turned on his lights because I'm BLACK and drive a Corvette!:"
If you were simply enjoying your car instead of looking for who's looking for you, it may benefit your argument.
I like to get along side of them if possible and ask, "Wanna race?" Most of the time the LEO will laugh. Sometimes I get the look of death and then they drive off.
Talking to the chief wouldn’t do anything anyway, I tried it when my motorcycle was taken by the police because the guy I bought it from stole it, and the detective unlawfully held my bike at an impound that wasn’t the police departments for more than five days. This is illegal to due but the bike stayed in this storage for 29 days and I was forced to pay $750 to get it out. I tried to talk to the chief and he just tried to cover his guys *** and claimed that since I was a student he doesn’t see how it was possible that someone of my age could afford to pay $8,000 cash for the bike, and maybe I was involved in it. Now you guys don’t think that was discriminating against age, now you see why I don’t like to deal with police. But I learned a lesson you cant fight city hall.
