I think when the top is up on my vert it looks way more aggressive then a coupe. Love it and you have a top down wind in your hair option always
I always wanted a coupe too, my son found a screaming deal online for the vert I have now and I'm so glad I got it! A vette is meant to be topless, as it's a pleasure vehicle. I think it resembles the Z06 in profile with the top up..
How to you plan to use it? Will it be garaged or parked outside? How's the neighborhood? Verts are beautiful, but if you're going to drive a lot, park in public a lot, and spend 90% of the time with the top up, a couple is more secure, quieter, easier to see out of, and more practical for carrying stuff.
Even so, a C5 Vert is still a beautiful car! Go with what will suit your needs and interest best.
so I finally went to the dealer where I was looking to put an offer in, slimy salesman first tried to tell me the price was 29k instead of 24k they had been advertising for a 99 vert 6m w/39k miles??? Said wouldn't negotiate(from 24k) and the thing's parking brake didn't even work(and they wouldn't fix that either) What an aHole!!! Needless to say they lost a sale and I didn't become an owner today.... The search continues!!!!
Ive had coupes and now a vert-vert hands down. Nothing like cruising with top down. Get more thumbs-up from non vette owners with the vert then I ever did with a coupe. To me the lines of a vert are much more exotic.
Perhaps you should base your decision upon where you live. I reside in New England, where even the springtime and the fall can be lousy, like this year. (I don't drive the car in the winter.) In the summer I use the glass roof, and during spring and fall the standard one.
Now, my point is that when I run without the roof, I enjoy the open air ride immensely. There is, of course, an accommodation in the trunk to store the roof, for re-installation if it begins to rain or something. The only adverse situation is that, a coupe running without a top in place exposes the wide trunk cavity behind the seats, which is bound to be highly resistant to smooth airflow. How it affects gas milage I don't know.
Finally, "blacksedan87" has excellent advice too, and if I lived in a climate like that found in sunny AZ, I too would strongly consider a convertible. However, in my circumstance in CT, I feel that I can enjoy the best of both worlds with a cpe.
Enjoy your ride!!!!!!!!!

Hey, GRT - I used to live near Wolcott. In fact, I used to run through Wolcott when I was on the cross country team at Sacred Heart High School. I bought my 68 vert when I lived in Conn. and went on to own it for almost 22 years. As you can see in my sig, I now have a coupe and have never regretted buying it. I still say that everyone should have a vert at least once in his/her life, but even in San Diego, the coupe life is for me now. The translucent top is incredible!
Bunch of great pics, verts and coupes. How you will drive car/where you live/climate all influence the decision. The coupes do look great and the way the targa comes out is a ton better than the way it did on the C4, as long as you remember to latch it back on! Since it hardly ever rains here, I picked the vert. Had an '87 Z28 'vert and it was noisy, the C5 vert is as quiet as my C4 coupes used to be (If not more).
