That's pretty cool, only saw them on 1 other car. What bulbs did you use? How did you modify the housing for the lens? Sory for the questions.
No prob... I did the same thing you did... I used a box cutting knife to cut into the resin that holds the 2 pieces together but ended up breaking a little of the red off.. I used silicone to adhere them back together so i wouldnt get any moisture inside and used these bulbs.. just red "3057's"
PAGING SeaLawyer... I will look for them and if I find them, and you still want them, your name is on them. I also am doing quite a bit of biz in Jacksonville right now.. so when you are back maybe I can even personally drop them off to you.

SeaLawyer (in my other thread) is in Iraq and really wanting a set. If your planning on letting them go would you consider sending him a PM? thanks Bob

Man you just have got to love the members we have here. Very nice of you Steve.
I have installed a very UNIQUE (only saw 1 member here that has this) mod. While it's not for everyone, it's very different and I happen to think it makes my C5 just a little bit different. The RED 25 bulb LED's are in route, so I have no pictures with the lights on..... YET. This is a lot of work, but in my opinion well worth it. I will order the CLEAR 3rd brake light next week. Hope you all like the new look. Bob
Strange to see clear lenses but it looks really nice with silver...If they light up red then that is going to be very cool...hope you don't have a problem with the "law"

I think they look very cool on your silver car Flush mount would look even better IMO.
My car is silver so I will not get the same look as Jason above. However, i'm sure it will be very distinctive. Bulbs will be RED Led's. Is it legal?? Well I have no idea at this point. Once it's done i'll walk next door to one of my neighbors (6 on this block are Police or Hwy Patrol) And see what they think. The lens is reflective however it is NOT RED REFLECTIVE.
In case you're not aware, NOBODY makes an LED bulb as bright as standard bulbs. At least not yet. LED bulbs are very expensive compared to standard and totally ineffective. We've been researching these for the past 6 months. Another draw back is that they are not plug & play. You would need to splice a 6 ohm equalizer into each tail light, or change your flasher, to avoid the turn signal strobe light effect. I'll bet they'll look great when installed though I'm looking forward to seeing the completed project
As far as legalities ... look at all the SUV's running around with clear tail light lenses. They light up red, but they're visually clear. I think several are OEM as well.
Good luck with your project,
Richard
PM sent Steve - thanks!! Richard, I already have the sequential turn signals on mine which have an adjustment **** allowing you to change the load, so that won't be an issue.

Richard the bulbs and resistor take about 2 minutes to install. The resistor splices in to the line and the bulb plugs into the existing socket. Now as for cost, yes they are much more. I paid $7.95 per bulb so yes, they are expensive. I temporarally installed Amber bulbs as thats what a friend gave me. My concern is the NARROWNESS of the pattern with this set-up. I am using the 25 bulb lights and hoping that the red is a wider pattern during the day. At night it looks great. Hopefully this pic of the bulb works.
Pic won't work but its the 25 light bulb.
Did you use the Skill-Saw in the photo to do the install???
Looks good, but I wonder how they'd look against a yellow background?
Bob
No that was from my "HONEY DO" list earlier in the day, i'll put everything away today.
Here are a few pics I just took this morning, with the temporary just to see if LED's work Amber LED's installed. This is in the garage and it's just the parking lights, no brakes or blinkers. I think i'm going to really like this.

You may want to consider these to spread the light out better. A very clever idea. They are admittedly dimmer than OEM as well, but they're working on their next generation of LEDs that they expect to be brighter than standard bulbs. They expect this next generation to be available around October. They're trying to have them ready for the SEMA show. We'll be testing them as soon as they're available. Going to be costly though.
