That's a FANTASTIC new bulb. That thing expands in the housing. However at $45.00 each, that's a really expensive bulb. Hopefully my current set-up will be good until the release of the new brighter LED's your talking about. Once the new generation is released i'll bite the bullet and get them.

As requested here are outside pics.

Just a pic, no lights on
All photos that show lights are AMBER (waiting for red to come in) LED's on DRIVERS SIDE
Standard White bulbs on passenger side.

Parking lights on from approx. 20' away

Drivers side signal while tail light is on

Brake lights with parking lights on, notice the difference.

Same shot as above but closer

Your 100% correct I'm very concerned about how much these leds bleed out when in the sun. I think I might change the LEDs single bulb to a bunch of single bulbs individually mounted in the housing OR give a try to the bulbs C5VetteLS1 suggests in the other thread. http://spiderlite.com/ I am not removing these lenses so I just need to find a safe (bright enough) way to fill the housing.

That looks awesome Once you get that 3rd brake matched, you'll really be styling Looks like a worth while effort to me!
Congrats,
Richard
Rear side markers would really finish it off nice as well.

Thanks, i'll order the 3rd. brake light this week. Question for you. The last picture I posted above shows the Amber LEDs on the driver side and the White standard bulbs on the passenger side. Do you think RED LEDs will give me a bright light during daytime hours? Am I better off buying the standard bulbs colored red? Of course I really want to see the new bulbs that you eluded to earlier that are coming out in October.
Thanks
Bob

Hey Bob, saw the pictures of your car with the clear lenses installed, looks great, I have searched high and low for them, checked with all the aftermarket companies, asked everyone I knew in the parts related business to help me find them, no luck. I already have the clear Euro front corner lights, the clear rear side markers, and the clear LED third brake light. so I have ordered a set of the LED Euro tail lights, they look like the ones on QuikZilvers car, I guess this is close as I'm going to get to the clear lenses. I got everything Thur ProCarParts. I'll let ya know how it comes out................Jim

Am I interpreting the Florida code correctly? According to this I should have no problem as it clearly states EMIT RED when LIGHTED

Code 316.221
(1) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer, and any other vehicle which is being drawn at the end of a combination of vehicles, shall be equipped with at least two taillamps mounted on the rear, which, when lighted as required in s. 316.217, shall emit a red light plainly visible from a distance of 1,000 feet to the rear, except that passenger cars and pickup trucks manufactured or assembled prior to January 1, 1972, which were originally equipped with only one taillamp shall have at least one taillamp. On a combination of vehicles, only the taillamps on the rearmost vehicle need actually be seen from the distance specified. On vehicles equipped with more than one taillamp, the lamps shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable. An object, material, or covering that alters the taillamp's visibility from 1,000 feet may not be placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied over a taillamp.

...thats correct...
...and at least two stop lamp...
316.222 Stop lamps and turn signals.--

(1) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer shall be equipped with two or more stop lamps meeting the requirements of s. 316.234(1). Motor vehicles, trailers, semitrailers and pole trailers manufactured or assembled prior to January 1, 1972, shall be equipped with at least one stop lamp. On a combination of vehicles, only the stop lamps on the rearmost vehicle need actually be seen from the distance specified in s. 316.234(1).

316.217 When lighted lamps are required.--

(1) Every vehicle operated upon a highway within this state shall display lighted lamps and illuminating devices as herein respectively required for different classes of vehicles, subject to exceptions with respect to parked vehicles, under the following conditions;

(a) At any time from sunset to sunrise including the twilight hours. Twilight hours shall mean the time between sunset and full night or between full night and sunrise.

(b) During any rain, smoke, or fog.

(c) Stop lights, turn signals, and other signaling devices shall be lighted as prescribed for use of such devices.

The color red is not required...

btw I love the clear lens...

Jim, not to ruin your night but as you read above, another member has a set he is not using. I believe that set is going to one of our HERO's in IRAQ. Be patient, they do come along every once in awhile.

Thanks Here is the white car I got the idea from. I fell in love the moment I saw it. His is painted white inside the housing. Mine I left silver inside as I thought it would match my car nicely.

I'm sorry Bob, but I don't have the answer to that. You'll just have to do some experimenting. I'm fairly certain that a red tinted incandescent bulb will be dimmer than standard clear. If that's factual, red LED's may actually illuminate brighter with your clear lenses.
Good luck with that,
Richard
