Explain your case in a nice letter to the HOA and give a copy to your neighbor. If this doesn't work, go to the store and buy a dozen eggs, bag of sugar and some Ex Lax for your big dog. Call me for details on what to do with these items.

I get a Notice of Violation, I call and find out that All Containers (PODS included) are outlawed in this town unless you have a Contractor doing at least $25K of Renovations. Turns out this is a new Law as of Nov,2005. They give me 15 days to comply. I finish up and have it picked up.
Here is the Corvette Part, An Inspector comes by Today to check, he sees that the Container is gone and says no problem. However the Neighbor also complained that I am running an Auto Repair Business from my Home, I explain that I repair my own cars and they are all registered to me at this address. The inspector sees my C5 in the Drive under a cover, and says That must also have plates ,be registered, inspected, and insured. I show him that it is, he says OK. If they get any more complaints I will have to prove that I work on my own cars and they must be Registered. ???

As a former Code Officer in NYS as long as your car is garaged or covered it does not have to be registered.

Sounds like he's making it up as he goes!

I don't believe any state requires a vehicle to be registered and/or insured/inspected etc. unless it is driven on a public right of way.
There are many states/cities that have this law, Cape Coral Florida has this law big time, there was a time there when you were not able to have commercial plates in your driveway including your own pick up truck. They have since changed the law to aloud a pick up with commercial plates, But you can not have any signs on it, or you will be ticked by code enforcement.
I also know that the town of Brookhaven is also cracking down / enforceing a lot of these laws for many years people got away with a lot, I know this becouse I lived there 40 years.

Pour bleach on his front lawn to spell funny things. It'll kill the grass where you pour it.

Default Let's look at this from the OTHER side...

I live in a pretty nice area - not as fancy as some but definitely one where we try to keep our lawns nice and the driveways free of junk. Not saying that your neighbor couldn't have done better by you with the container issue but imagine what life would be like with a neighbor like mine. I've spoke directly to him and told him to keep his truck away, I've filed multiple complaints with the code compliance committee over the last year. It's there on weekends (when the code people are off) and he actually does major work on it. Here's what I got to see on Father's Day as I was arriving home. FWIW, the white Olds has no plates on it either.

I just moved from Crofton, actually, so you're 15 mins from me. I really don't see a problem with what I see in the picture, seems inline with our area. Doesn't really bother me that the Olds doesn't have tags either.

Guess I'm just more laid back about these things.

I'm no legal expert, but I bet you could have him cited for parking the Ram across the sidewalk.

Hmmmm

Sounds like a topic more appropriate to OT than C5 general.

However, the neighbor and you have issues - sit down and attempt to resolve them.

THAT SUCKS BIG TIME. Take pictures with time and date to show the code enforcement agency.

Or just take a sawz-all (sp?) and cut the portion off that's over the sidewalk...doesn't take much to destroy a Dodge.

BTW...original poster...your neighbor is a moron.

I feel for you Nobigspoilerz! I think your problem is a legal matter. I would also contact every Politician you can. Don't give up, that is Commercial.
My original thread was General and Corvette related, many of us do work on our cars for many reasons. We also like cars and if we can, own many. My container and Garage cleaning was an attempt to copy the Garages I have seen posted here. I was going for the floor, wall etc. I'm just slow.
I don't know how without clearing a Garage out unless it's a new house anyone could redo theirs.
I try not to break laws (speeding aside) and as I said if I had known it was illegal I never would have rented a Container.
I take issue with someone implying that I run a Auto Repair Shop from my home, and the enforcement person came by on a Wednesday afternoon with no evidence in sight ( I was doing Gardening, at least trying to) and told me I would have to Prove I Don't run a repair shop. That was based on a Complaint from someone. At that point I asked him what if I made a Complaint that my neighbor was running a Brothel would they immediately send a notice of Commercial use in a Residential location and issue a building violation without an investigation first?
I believe this affects many of us who enjoy our cars. I wonder if the Polish and Shine Guys could be accused of Running Detail Shops.
Heaven forbid you show a buddy how to Clay Bar on his Car in your Driveway.

I moved from a residential neighborhood 8 months ago after 22 years of putting up with things like that. My only neighbor now is a field of corn. We get along just fine.

...it might be interesting to see how many people who replied to this discussion actually own their own homes, rent or still live with their parents...

Live w/parents but don't have these issues...I live in the middle of no where. That's why I didn't reply with any suggestions that were serious...except the fact that his neighbor is a moron.
