2001 no problems yet. Just this morning I got the "pull key, wait 10 seconds" message.
Pulled key, waited, worked fine.
Am I on borrowed time?
My friend has a 98 and he used to always remind me that he had never had a CL problem. Then, last year it bit him. It cost him about $500 to have it towed and "fixed". The day he got it back I installed a CL eliminator for him. I was proactive on my own car and installed the CL eliminator shortly after I got it.
I see so many threads about column lock problems. I would like to hear from people who haven't. I have never had a problem with my car (2002 Mn6), I know, I know. What percentage of the C5s do you think have had this problem 10%, 50%, 75%?
No problem...yet. I hope I never have to deal with it. I guess the best way is to get the CLB done before you really have to do it. I'm taking my chances in not doing it. I'm very concious about how I park my car. I always try to let the ignition key out with my steering straight or at least not in a position where is trying to index itself to a less strenous position, if you know what I mean.

2000 MN6...Get this...column never locked up. But, I intermittently get the "Pull key" then the "Service Column" message...never know when it's gonna hit. Went through Two CLBs, three BCMs, new wirining to eliminate any possible GM splice faults, Recall relay removed (per Cscokd ), checked all fuses, checked each terminal at the BCM harness related to this, checked the terminals at the CLB and I NEVER know when the message is gonna bite me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't? I'm at a total loss! Anyone else ever experience this or hear of it?
