I have the Garmin 2720 also, it works great. The reason I got this one is because I can use it on my bike or car. There are not many of them that are waterprof but this is one of them. I have mounts for My car, wifes car, my bike, and her bike
Nuvi - small but great. Battery powered too so no wires.
This thing is really great. Great visibility while driving and with the 3D map look while driving it shows the next couple of streets coming up and lets you know the NEXT street coming up. Very compact and easy to use.
I use a handheld Garmin GPSMap 60Cx, which is a fantastic handheld with color screen as well. Also have an old Garmin eTrex Legend that I used for years and is very cheap but fine for taking out on the trails and what not.
I strongly dislike Magellans vs. the more capable Garmin. While very similar, Magellan is notorious for using old Garmin technology, so you essentially get a 5 year old Garmin when you buy a new Magellan IMO.
Nuvi 350. Loved the size, could care less about some of the bells and whistles it really gets the job done . The price has been reduced at WalMart.com, $539. Just got the antenna for the traffic update so I'll let you know how that works out after it's installed on Wed. I'm having that installed in my DD

iWay 350. It's small, battery powered, and it has an FM transmitter with MP3 player and SD card slot. What all that means is that it can play the music I loaded onto the card through my stereo system, using the FM transmitter, whether it's being used for navigation or not. The navigation directions will override the music that's playing. Nice and portable so when I go on business trips I just take it with me. We also have a Magellan 500 in my wife's car. My dad has the factory GPS in his Honda Pilot and had to go to another state for business. Guess who he called to see if he could use one of the portable units
I have the Garmin C320 (I think a couple of other people here have it, but listed it as C230). It's the unit with no hard drive, but you can cram all of the US onto a 1GB card. The screen could be brighter, but it's still a great unit for under $300.

I bucked the trends and went with the Navman ICN 530. Why? The price, it runs on cord or internal battery, fits in my shirt pocket and looks like it belongs in the C5 with it's design and button layout. I continue to be very pleased with it. I took it out of state when visiting my daughter at college and used it in the rental car. The bastages disabled the cig lighter, so I had to run off the internal battery, but it managed to hold its charge long enough for me to get through the weekend (with lots of turning it off and on again).
i just bought a tom tom one. i like it for the size and it has alot of features for the money. its about 4x4 so i mount it right above the insp. sticker beside pillar, touch screen, voice command, blue tooth,3-d maps, and countless points of interest. any town you can tap resturants, motels and address, phone numbers, and directions. pop up. just tap number on screen and it calls it for you and bluetooth takes over. set your own home account on their web-site save maps, add your own directions and your own points of interest, and more i havent figured out yet. i love it. 450 and some change
Same here, got one from Crutchfield to try. Worked great on the Atlanta trip this past weekend.
you have a CD player in your stereo!! I have a damn TAPE player.
sheesh.. ofcourse mine is a '98
But yeah .. the GARMIN 2720 is very nice.. costs a little more (I payed $950ish).. but comes preloaded with all the US.. and it has touchscreen and voice (it reads the street NAME... doesnt just say LEFT or RIGHT)
PHAROS software in a Dell PDA. It is such junk that I am wary of trying anything else unless I can input an actual route. The route calculation with this software will send you many miles out of the way. It goes to Interstate over state highways even when the state route would save many miles and considerable time. It will calculate an L shaped route and refuse to use other routes to cut across the L. Trying to use waypoints to force it to consider a better route drives it nuts.
Microsoft Streets & Maps calculates good routes, but the laptop is inconvenient in the Vette. Do dedicated GPS units match S&M in picking the shortest and fastest routes?
Also, can the units with MP3 playback be connected directly into the radio for better sound?
Thanks
