Now that the C6 has been out for a bit, do you think the C5 looks "dated" in comparison?
Why, oh why would you post this in the "C5 Gen" forum? Do you really think someone is going to say "Yeah they look kind of outdated. A little bit like yesterdays news!"

Where should it have been posted? Seems to me he is a C5 owner seeking the opinions of other C5 owners about their C5s relative to the C6. Somehow I think the answers would be similarly one sided in C6 Gen.

The only two styling elements of the C5 that are beginning to look dated to me are the pop-up headlights (which I like, but fell out of favor with designers by the mid-'90s) and the rear overhang, which looks a foot too long next to a C6.

It might look too long for an FRC, but for a coupe it looks GREAT!
But I do like both!
I always get people wondering if the car is brand new, and some who arent in touch with cars wondering if its some type of exotic
I should also say to the original poster, name a car that has come out in the past year or two that is leaps and bounds above the c5 and around the same price range? I cant think of any, not even the c6!

You're right, the FRC body style definitely exacerbates that issue. But it's even noticable on the coupes, IMO. The C6s look like the rear glass extends almost to the edge of the rear cap.
It's not dated....yet. Give it a few more years, like when the C7 arrives. For now, I'll just let people think my 2000 is a new one. Most people who don't keep up with the new models can't believe mine's 7 yrs old.
I find the front end to be dated on the C5's..............hence me adding the ACI chin spoiler, however I am still only so so on the looks. I really like the looks of the C6 front end, I just cant justify starting all over again But I honestly cant say I wont do it eventually!! lol

Inevitably the C5 will become "dated", but it will take a long time. The C4 retained (and maybe still does) it's advanced look for many, many years......until inevitably times change and technology, as well as what the public expects a vehicle to look like, changes, which makes even the most appealing car become "dated" eventually.
I think that the C6 has not had the "wow" effect that some earlier "Vette models have had. It's going into its 3 year and I have still not "fallen" for its looks. But, it took a while for the C5 to grow on me too.
I have read that some people "complained" about the largeness of the C5.....but to me that makes it appealing. The C6 looks stunted, and that odd pointed look of the rear end just looks odd to me. My opinion may change after a while, and I may "warm" to the looks of the C6 but for right now the C5 has it for me.

Somehow I don't think you got the intent of my post. But for your sake and his let's just do this..........yes the C5 is dated. It's old, it's ancient, and it looks like a relic. Now I'm willing to bet that I'll be the only one who owns a C5 to post this.

Yeah, you probably are.
And matter of fact, other than on the C6 forum, just about anyone would tell you that.
The great thing about the C5 is that the average non-gearhead doesn't know the difference. 95% of the people out there can't tell the difference between a C6 and a Z06.
And if you think I'm wrong, tell me this...how can you look at a black 2004 C5 and tell it apart from a 1999 C5? (or even a 1997 C5 except for the wheels).
