Personally, I don't think the C5 will ever look dated compared to a C6. They better do something a lot different to the C7 to make me want to buy a replacement for my C5 cause it sure isn't a C6!!!
I agree on your thoughts on the C6. It just doesnt have the "look at me" features that the C5 has. With Chevy forcing us to lower the car ourselves, making it sound like a Vette should sound like, and upgrading to nicer wheels like most of everyone has, I think you get a better looking car than what is offered in a new C6 and you still have money in your bank account to make it faster and more powerful than the C6 should you choose to.
Just my .02 worth of input. The C6 is still a very nice car and I would not be ashamed to own one but, I just like my C5 better.
I still get people asking me if that's a new vette. They are shocked when I tell them its a 2002. Honestly, the vette is so sleek and aerodynamic, I don't think it will ever go out of style.
The C5 has such great lines, I tell people that the C5 is the way a car was meant to look!
I think the answer to both above and many more not mentioned is "no" not at all dated.
Sure they come out with newer things and newer cars, but wouldn't it be cool if they started making 69 Camaros or C3's again ??
I would love to have either one, so no, not dated, older perhaps, but not dated, the C5 will become a classic, a turning point in the history of Corvettes. The C6 is a great car, but it will not be able to be such a marker in the history of Corvettes.

As much as I love my C5, and still think it's a beautiful design, I must admit that when I park beside a C6, my car does look a bit dated to me. I didn't like the C6 when I first saw it, but the more I see them the more I love the new design. I think GM did a great job.
It doesn't make me dislike the looks of the C5 though, it's just different now. I do think it's possible to love both of them, and when the time comes for me to get a C6 for myself, I'm hoping I'm financially stable enough that I can keep the C5 to give to my wife.
Yes you do. I own both and I LOVE my '02 but don't tell me that the C5 is light years ahead of the C4 because I will still say that I think my C4 will out corner my C5.
Let's put it this way... If GM introduced the C5 and the C6 at the same time and you saw them both sitting in a showroom side by side at the same price, performance point, etc., which would you choose? For me it would be the C5 - no contest. The C6 looks like a junior version of the real thing - like those little BMWs.
I cancelled my advance order of a C6 when I saw it in person. It is a nice design, but I would buy another C5 and fix it up before I would buy a C6 - based strictly on styling (inside and out). As far as "warming up" to a C6 - I don't recall every getting more excited about the looks of a car after the initial impact. The C5 "keeps" me excited, but the first time I saw one, it was "love at first sight".
I see exotics over $150k that spin me around and I would own one if I had more money than God - just for a toy - but when money and a level of practicality are concerns, the C5 is the only car under $150k that makes the list for me.

I've had several people walk past the car and comment - "There's one of those new corvettes."
