Before I even thought about buying a vette, my girlfriend said she wanted to buy a vette after college. She was pissed that i bought her "dream car". But she loves riding in it, and i've let her drive it before. Since the UPS truck stops by every week, she's never surprised when mods are stacked up the garage. She been with me on a couple runs before. And car shows, except she hates the swap meets!!! We've been together 8 years now, i'm sure we'll tie the knot someday. But she's seen the full force of my modding madness without giving me grief, so I can't complain. I told her she can have whatever kind of car she wants, as long as it's a Camaro, GTO, or Vette.
At first My GF loved my vette. Now she is always giving me S#$% about it"that's all you care about". "I'm not even allowed to drive it" What do I say??? She grounded it out the first time driving it.... You know that ground out where it shakes the whole car..... not just plastic but metal!!!
I just put my head down and closed my eyes. Don't get me wrong, I explained how to slowly- at an angle enter on a road if your coming down a steep hill. No No NO she said she knew what she was doing. After the shocking pain from the underside of my car had subsided, she yells at me " Why would you lower your car so much....... don't kids do that!!!!???
Yea... I got Girlfriend for sale!!!! I'll post it on the parts section!!! J/K
The wife does not say much, UNLESS... I say something about her buying sh** off of QVC. Then look out. "You spend every penny on that damn car, so if I want to order something from QVC, you better back off!!" So I just keep my mouth shut. But she does buy some crap from QVC...

I fell in love with Corvette back when I was 11, that would have been in 1964. I saw at a car lot a 53 vette and that was it. It took me until I was 50 to actually get one. I spent a ton of money the first 6 months I had it, paint job, ground effects, new roof, wheels and tires, new stereo and speakers, gold emblems, and too many more that I can even account for.
Then one day in late September of the first year the trans went out on me going to work. The car sat for 2 years and everytime I went into the garage I just looked at it until last spring when the wife finally said take the money and get it fixed. She understood my fascination with the car.
She before Carlie last year was a Trans Am person and always wanted one. But at Carlie I made the suggestion that it would be neat if she got a Vette and we would become a Vette family. Well we almost came home with one but 2 months after Carlie we were going to pick up her C5.
Now when it comes to X-Mas, Birthdays, Valentines Day and any other holiday I know I can get her something for her Vette and I'm golden... Just bought her a window valet last night for Valentine's Day...
One Saturday, after I spent the entire day working on my baby...doing absolutely none of her "honey-do's", I came in, tired, sweaty, dirty (and broke from mods). She shook her head at me and said "I REALLY hate that."
And I asked what was it she hated (knowing, here it comes!)
Her response?
I hate that we waited so long to buy you a Corvette. I never knew how much that would mean to you.
My wife is great about the Corvette thing. Thought she was going to kill me last year when I bought the second vette but she was really pretty cool about it all. She does participate with some of the Corvette events and even took pictures for a covered bridge tour that I put together last year.
SO fully supports me in my follies with the vert. She has bought the VIS carbon fiber hood for me for my birthday, has put $1,000 dollars toward roll bar and many other things over the two years we have had it. Told her I was going to go to A&A in spring for supercharger and she just rolled her eyes.
I've had vette for over two years and she has driven it one time and has ridden in it maybe three times. That lets you know how much she dislikes it. Whenever money gets tight she reminds me that if i wasn't driving a vette! everything would be peaches and cream. And we have been married 20 years and i think i'll keep her, and i'll keep the wife too.
My wife can't understand how I get so taken up with the well being of the car...she also can't understand why so many people stare at the car, and shout compliments out of the blue if you're at a light. However, most of all, she can't understand why I get together so often with the corvette forum friends....luckily, she gets along really well with them, and looks forward hanging with them. I think she's finally understanding the obsession. She even hinted that she may just buy a 'vette of her own...I hope she gets a Z06

Think carefully before you do it but look her in the eyes and say "And your point might be...?"

Can someone help the bruthah here? Go back up the thread and see how some deal with the implied threat that they won't ever really come right out and say "it's the Corvette or me". I will tell you though, if they EVER do get to that point and say it point blank, the choice is not all that hard.
