It's a twisted thing, my girlfriend would rather ride in my beat-up 74 Jeep pickup than the corvette. The first time we took it out for dinner she said I was tacky for parking in the first available spot, which happened to be the one in front of the door to the restaraunt. But I think she's finally coming around as she went and rode with me in an SCCA solo event.

My wife doesn't get what I see in the car. She views cars just as a means of transportation. But, as long as she doesn't push for me to get rid of it, things will be OK.
I'm sure when my husband gets home he will chime in here but just like moserbe and mqqn--we are in it together---him with his C4 (that I am trying to get him into a C5) and me with my C5. Holidays are never a problem now. When we started dating and eventually married I told him---don't you EVER buy me an appliance as a gift---but hell now car parts are a differnt story...
And now that we have 2 running vettes (the third is being rebuilt) we take both cars everywhere. We have even registered for the next cruise in and registered both of us and are taking both cars---same with Carlisle..We can't make one feel left out now can we..
Here's the kicker for you all---we work at the same place and will still take both cars to work in the summer and park right next to each other---we also both take the long way home---and that is when we have nothing to do after work but go home...

I totally agree, My Wife and I share in the cars care and pleasure. That makes TWO of us that are "Lucky Men"
well i traded my wifes mustang in 4 my vette not realizing what iwas doin at the time,i figured it was just a car and it was time for a new one,i still hear about it,i just dont get it she says she dont like drivin the vette, she still wants her rustang back
Can someone help the bruthah here? Go back up the thread and see how some deal with the implied threat that they won't ever really come right out and say "it's the Corvette or me". I will tell you though, if they EVER do get to that point and say it point blank, the choice is not all that hard.
Charlie
They won't ever do that. They already know what would happen.

My husband never says a word i just tell him i ordered something and it might be left at the front door so please take it in for me.In the the years i have had the car he has never asked the prices of anything i have bought for it in the way of mods.I take care of the money so it is what ever i want to do i guess he figures it keeps me busy doing the mods on the car and in that way i dont bother him
My wife doesn't get it, but she supported my desire to get the C5 as being well deserved for working hard and getting two sons through college, with one more to go. She doesn't get my RC planes either. On the other hand my 3 sons all get the C5 fascination, and flying RC planes. My dear wife does go along with me retiring too, in just 10 weeks! Can hardly wait. Jon
Last year after buying my vert, I wanted to do a few mods, but was short on cash. The wife won 1,000 on scratch off ticket and gave it to me for mods on the car. I'm very lucky as she supports my habit, doesn't fully understand it, but she says if I'm happy then shes happy.
I don't mean to hi jack the thread but congrats maukavette I wish I just had 10 weeks left, 29+ and still counting! This means you'll get more to wash and wax !
My wife helped me pick out my motorcyle of few years ago and suggested that I buy the Corvette last year. She would rather see me with fast vehicles than fast women.
Being the g/f of a guy who has one, and this will make him very proud as this is my 1st post, I think it is cool when he takes my kids "spinning", but I think he is nuts when he changes things over and over again. His car is beautiful with what he has done, why change a thing of beauty. But seeing him happy when it is all done, and the glowing mood he is in for at least a week after....is worth the work he puts in to it. But now....if only you can convince him to work on his video game obsession.....

If that philosophy turns out to be genetic, does she have a sister?
I bought the car while my wife was still on the plane coming here from Korea. If she knew I already had it, I'm sure we wouldn't have ever been married.

I bought my Vette for a wedding present to the both of us - My husband didn't know how to drive an MN6 so he took lessons and drove it here and there. Then I met the CFNE - Well let's just say he doesn't understand the passion I have for MY VETTE. Don't think he ever will. Ask him he'll tell ya - he don't have a Vette
