Oh Crap! And I thought I was caught up on my mods for awhile. Then along comes this cool light show. I really like the idea of using them as turn signals.

And im stealing this idea too now that it appears to be legal.
Just tie into the frount turn signals and run the wire to the new light.
It helps to get people to move out of a lane I want to be in.
I hope this is not hijacking
I have mine hooked up as turn signals.
I took a reg. turn signal amber light bulb and socket w/3 wires. Conected the two hots together and tied into the blue wire from my turn signal socket, guounded the black on each side.
I made some clips to mount the bulbs deep inside the vents. The bulb gets hot so its not rubing any part of the fender.
I think it looks good and easy to see. About $20.00 in parts and 4 hours time.
Forum member DeeGee Helped me w/picking the right wires, thanks again DeeGee.
Its on w/the DRLs and flashes w/turn signals on. When the parking or head lights are on its off, till the turn signals are used.
I can't seem to get a good night shot, but i will certainly take How-to pics tomorrow and include a write up.
AMRAAM: Right now i'm using one transformer and cathode per side, but i'm going to see what 2 cathodes per side (the transformers support 1 or 2 cathodes ea) looks like.
I love the look and did it to my 04 c5 and my c6. But ...the only legal side marker allowed by law is amber, not red or blue or any other color. Call your State Police and ask them, don,t take my word for it.

No expert here either but a lot of big rigs run lights from the front of their trucks with amber showing forward and red on the back showing towards the rear. I'll guess as long as they don't show forward, red would be fine.
Yes some do. And when they are checked by DOT they are made to remove them on the spot. Amber is the only legal color allowed as running lights or sometime called marker lights. As i said don,t believe me , call your State Police and ask them, or the ICC or DOT.

This is both legal, functional and looks great at night. It also adds a click up on the safety scale by increasing visibility when crossing intersections. Good job.

Cool. i was wondering if two would be too much so let us know what you find
I was just thinking that it would be kinda cool to have it get brighter as RPMs increased. Anyone know how to do that?
