My engine's on fire!!!

The official Ruling on the Red vs. Amber when last i checked is that Red must be facing the rear OR facing the side on the rear half of the vehicle. Amber must be facing the front or the side on the front half of the vehicle. The exceptions to this rule are clearence lights on trucks (i.e. the sierra denali edition and dully pickups)
I'm up for ths Mod next myself, I'm looking at neons or a DIY LED bar made oughta plexi (easy RadioFlyer, down boy! lol) tied into my interior lighting or Fog lights (after I Mod those to stay on with the highbeams too)... sigh. When does it end?
I also want to light up the rear bumper vent screens and add a white spot light to my enhancement plate...
Personally, I like the "something is hot under the hood" look
lol. Just kidding. Seriously, thanks for sharing this
. Sounds easier than I expected to be. I have a few questions if you don't mind me asking.Have you done this yet? Or is it still in the concept stage?
How bright would the bulbs be? I am looking foir more of a soft glow look. If they are too bright for what I want, is there any reason I couldn't wire the cathodes to the "beat box"?
I'm also thinking I'd like to have a switch to bypass the beat box so I have the option of having them on constantly. Do some beat boxes have a "constant on" setting? And lastly, I don't listen to really loud music, but if the radio was on, wouldn't the lights be flashing to it?
Thanks!
We (you and I) are meeting with the cars somewhere. I arrive before you and there are only two parking spots left, one on the end of a row and one between two minivans. I pull in to the one on the end of the row. You arrive after me, you look at me, I look at you, the feeling I experience is not "selfish" :-) <just injecting a little levity here, no foul :-) >
Ok back to the mod:
Yup, already done on car.
Yup, I think I understand what you want regarding the brightness (soft glow) and thats why the regular double side marker lights (two incandescent bulbs, mounted on a base with a colored snap on lense and two wires out the back) worked out to be just bright enough. The package is secured to the inside of the outside skin inside the cove with double sided tape.
Regarding using a different bulb tech (neon, led, cold cathode), not gonna work. They are "instant on" and will do more of a "blink" rather than the perceptably slower warm up and cool down of an incandescent. The look we want here is to mimic "fire" which is analog rather than "lightning" which would be digital :-)
And, yup, the beat box thing has a switch that does constant on, and you can also turn up the sensitivity all the way so it just stays on. And no, I dont have a problem with the music over-riding the engine exhaust note (flowmasters, and stock Bose system, and Im half deaf from 30 yrs of emergency service :-) ).

(hopefully the kids aren't there).Everything else makes sense. Certainly don't want the blink effect. That could put this mod into ricer territory...can't have that.
Any reason something like this wouldn't work? Lights
Thanks for what you do.

Thanks for what you do.the lights in the Ebay listing are going to be difficult to mount and i'm not even sure they'll fit.
Yup, don't think that one will fit.
The one I used was like $3 or $4, it's a side marker light, take a look in any autoparts store.
btw....I dated the redhead.....don't know the blond.....but I think it's her mom....good luck :-)
and re: "Thanks for what you do.", I say the same to you :-), only for me....it's "did" (boy that seems funny to hear...been retired a whole six days now :-) )

Shinny side up!
edit: I was just looking on the oznium website, and I extended the white wires going to the transformer. They said that could cause a problem. But the white wires are only 11" long. I needed alot more wire than that!

I'll try and get some install Pics while I'm doing it. I'm going to tie them into my interior lights or parking light circuit. THe superflux will be tied into my rear parking lights...

BTW. Thanks for starting this thread!!! I love this mod.

That's freaking AWESOME!!!!! Much better then mine will turn out! I can just imagine what purging your NOS will look like at night now!!!!! that will be the cat's ***!!!!!!!!!! Excellent job!!!!
You got the 12" Cathodes right?
OH! try getting a tripod for your camera and then set it on timer.... Or place it on a table or something solid. See if that helps!
