Over many years we have often seen open auto delivery trucks southbound on I-75 with a load of Corvettes. Several times it has been in the pouring rain. So for those that have a vette "that has never seen rain", don't be too sure!

On a slightly different subject, I bought a nice Covettte logo umbrella. My wife used it during the Indy race this year. When I found out I went ballistic...It had never been in the rain before. This was not my DD umbrella. Do you think it will impact the umbrella's resale value if I decide to sell?

i dont mind getting caught in the rain when I know the car needs a good wash anyway. But if i just cleaned her and i knew rain was coming, she stays in the garage. It just takes a little longer to clean after a rain.

Now, that is a classic!

We drove ours down south to LA once and it started to rain, we pulled over on the Freeway and I quickly put the cover on. We had know idea this rainstorm would last for 2 days. Man, that had to be the longest 2 days of my life. Just sitting there, listening to all that traffic go by day after day, slushing around in the rain, getting their cars all wet. On the 3rd day, the sun came out and we finally got back on the road. Man, did I have to pee bad. Anyways, don't believe a word of this story as I realy had a empty water bottle behind the seat!!!

I dont drive mine even if it looks like theres toom many dark clouds in the sky. I get so sick of being ridiculed on the forum becuase of it too. Who the heck is anyone to tell me when I should or shouldnt drive MY car? I'm the one who pays for it, I'm the one who cleans it, I'm the one loikes it that way!!

If you dont mind having grey inner fender wells or stained aluminum suspension parts, or the underside of your car looking like the top side of the asphalt street, or rusted bolt heads all over the place....more power to ya! Thats whay I have a pickup truck....so I dont have to worry about all that. I am fortunate enough not to have to drive my Z everyday. I keep it pristine, my choice, my car!

I love to detail all the other parts of the car too., not just the paint. To me, its a big model car. I enjoy keeping it in top condition......and yes with low miles......and guess what else.....it will help reslae value to have it in this shape & low miles.

I choose quality time over quantity when it comes to driving my Vette. I dont race, dont autocross & dont show it....SO WHAT?? The hobby in my opinion, is what ever you want it to be. I like a pristine condition Vette, thats fast as all get out with low miles.......Howdaya like me now????

Heres a couple of pics of why you should keep your cars out of the weather........

To each his/her own. The fun of owning and driving a Corvette is in the owners mind. If one wants to have a "never been wet" car vs. drive it during nice days with an occasional rain fall to a daily driver it is the owner's choice. You need to look at the enjoyment per mile you set for yourself. I don't drive in the snow or hurricanes, but getting wet is not a panic situation.

You can drive your car however you want, but don't be surprised when you get ridiculed for doing something most people think would be ridiculous.

I dont really care about other peoples opinions. However....this being a Corvette forum, means we all share a common interest. Each of us enjoys it differently. Why would "friends", ever "cyber-friends" ridicule eachother? Maybe most people think car shows are ridiculous......theres still thousands of us showing our cars and attending shows. Should all the shiners bag on the autocross guys for running track events with $50k cars?.....no.

Why may I ask, is it ridiculous to have a clean underside on my cars? MANY others do the same on this forum.

And this is your first post?....

I drive my Vette in the rain without problems. Well, only problem is the Vette gets dirty. Then I have to wash, dry, and Z-6 the car. The good news, it looks great after I take care of her.
So, I hate it to get dirty, but if I drive it, it will get dirty (rain or shine).
I just have to adjust my washing schedule.

I keep my car really clean as well. I take it to some track events, but it never gets dirty.

Here is a video shot from my friend's Mustang Cobra. Mine is the green C4 in some of the shots. Make sure and watch it to the very end (yeah, that's my car).

I Didn't say making fun of other people for how they use their cars was the right thing to do, I think your car looks awesome. If you are satisfied with it being that way then who cares what other people say?

I don't drive mine in the rain either. I've had bad experiances with my local freeways, lots of puddles. And wide tires like to jump up onto those puddles and hydroplain. So it's either drive when the weathers good, or drive scared in the rain. I choose to drive when it's only good weather.

The price is going to be a lot higher than the daily driver counter part of course.
