am i the only one here who really enjoys driving in the rain? - i'm not talking about thunder boomers & hail but i really enjoy a nice ride in the foothills or mountains in a light rain - beautiful -
I drove the Z06 from MD to NJ last Sunday in the pouring rain from start to finish. I was surprised at how well the Eagle SCs did for not really being a rain tire - they felt fine even for very short stretches up to 80mph and didn't feel at all like they were losing grip or hydroplaning. I was pretty nervous a couple of times when the car started to drift after hitting some ruts in the road, but that happens on dry pavement too with these tires.
Now I've got a major detailing day ahead of me - the car is a mess but I'm a lot more confident driving this beast in the rain at highway speeds
Its been raining for like two weeks here in WI. So ive been driving in rain a bit. I find when I get back to my garage and shes all wet from rain, its a good time to detail. I wipe all the rain water off, and then use my spray wax after - or is it bad to "wash" the car with rain water? Thanks a bunch
I need your opinions/advice guys, I bought a 2000 c5 as Ive mentioned in a few previous posts, anyways its clean enough to eat off of inside and out, I dont think it has seen rain yet as its so clean underneath. It only has >12k miles on it. How many of you guys drive in the rain? I havent had it out in the rain yet and avoid it at all costs. Its not a DD. WHat are your opinions on this?? Am I just being too ****? Is it a mess if underneath if it goes thru a rood rain while driving??
It's a car pure and simple. Contrary to some opinions they do not and will not melt when rained on or driven in the rain.
I can't believe this question gets asked so often. It's a FREEKIN' car, it's made to be driven, it has a top doesn't it ? It's not a show car is it ?
**** is not the word ! Forget all this politically correct bulls**t - DRIVE IT !!! You only live once. Are you going to be laying on your death bed saying " boy am I glad I kept my car out of the rain, my life was so much better because of it "......... aarrrggghhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Live a little.
I have 11,000 miles and I do not drive it in the rain ever, yet anyways, I think it's a matter of opinion, I wonder if my wipers even work, never turned them on..
Mine is not a DD, however it does get driven in the rain. I have a Toyota Tundra double cab 4wd and a Toyota Sienna. I do not
currently have a garage so the Vette does get wet. I am building a
carport for it until my wife and I finish this current rehab then buy a
house with a garage. At that point the Vette will get a spot inside. We
had planned on getting a Vette after we had a garage then we went
through an expirence that showed that life is too short to wait a couple of years for something as silly as a garage.
I drove my in the rain today and this is what happened.

Well you know there is no cure for that. It's a total waste now and worthless. You should just dump it off at the local carmax and buy something else with the couple grand you'll get for it.

Nope I like driving in the rain too. I'm not crazy about rush hour traffic in those conditions but I don't have to deal with that as I only live a few miles from where I work.
Of course if I just spend a few hours cleaning it up and it's going to pour down and I have no real reason to go anywhere, then yeah it stays in the garage until the storm passes and the roads dry up. But I have been caught before in that situation where I just finished drying it had to run somewhere and got caught in a downpour. Oh well have to dry it off again. No biggie.
The one thing I really like about driving the C5 in the rain over my previous C4? I don't have to worry about the Opti-spark getting wet and dying on me!
I have driven in all weather, I don't particularly care to drive in the snow, but sometimes its part of life. I got my car to enjoy, and I enjoy driving it.
I've also driven mine off road! We just built a house and the driveway doesn't have gravel all the way!!!!
Not intentionally...... I can't help but laugh though when I see a car hauler full of vettes truckin down I 65 in the rain though. (perversion laughter..... )
I promise you the car has been rained on. Behind the plant they have a huge parking area behind it where they park the cars. The cars are then loaded on a car carrier (open type) and transported to dealers where they may or may not sit on the lot. It is just water. Wash it, keep it clean and enjoy it.
I just got caught in a very hard storm two nights ago for the first time. Personally, I thought I handled very well! I blew it off when I got back into the garage. I was curious how it pulled anyway with wet roads. It was fun, just pretend you are racing in the 24 Hours of Leman's !
For all those who just wouldn't be caught dead driving your Vette in the rain...maybe you could get an all weather car cover and cut a hole in it to see out of while driving...kind of "have your cake and it eat too"
