Drove mine from northern Pa to southern Florida this year and last year. Guess what? The car came equipped with windshielf wipers and the work. I won't drive it if I know that there is going to be a storm but if I'm on a trip there's little that I can do to avoid it being in the rain.
Mine isn't a DD either so if its not nice out I don't drive it. On the other hand I wouldn't panic and run for an overpass if I were caught in the rain. I'd simply was it off the next day and apologize to it for being so insensitive.
Do you want a CAR or a MUSEUM PIECE. Even Jay Leno DRIVES his cars or more correctly HAS THEM DRIVEN so that they don't dry rot.
What do you think the WINDSHIELD WIPERS are for?
Drive it don't mount and stuff it. BIGHANK
When I get home I just jack it up and pull all the wheels and clean the entire under carriage and wheel wells with a tooth brush and simple green and 14 hours later good as new
I drive my car in the rain, snow, ice, mud, and gravel. It's in no worse condition then when I first bought it. If it gets dirty, just wash it.
My C5 has gotten my home from work during several snow storms (credit to the Pilot Sport A/S tires). The only thing I do during the winter is take it to the car wash to get the salt off the undercarriage. (Otherwise I wash it myself.) Mine's a DD, so the rain doesn't bother me.
If you drive only when its not raining, does that mean you never have to wash your car? NO it still gets dirty..and so will the underside, wheel well,..etc.
You paid enough for it...enjoy it! .... and wash it

I will drive mine in the rain if I need to. Our DD is a MB SLK320 and the people where my wife works think we are both out of our minds for driving our cars as much as we do. Sports cars are disigned to be driven.
i drive mine in the rain and it's not a daily driver .but normally if its gonna be hard thunderstorms i drive something else ..news flash the corvette wont melt in the rain
True, true, true and how many rainstorms did all vettes see between
delivery from the factory, the time sitting on a dealers lot and
the buyers garage.
No such animal as a non-rain (wet ) vette.

Does anyone else think it is rediculous that a thread about whether or not to drive your corvette in the rain has over 6 pages of traffic (100+ posts)?

Maybe just me ...
Fixed it for ya!
Oh lord, I just drove home in a blinding thunderstorm. It's ok, we made it safely but now the Vette is all wet! The underneath even!

So first off I'm curious for all those who say they don't drive in the rain. Do you ever take your Vette on a long trip or any sort of trip away from home? How can you avoid rain or whatever when your on a trip, can't find the nearest garage and hide? Sorry I don't understand this. Rain or anything won't hurt these vehicles.
I have an '01 vert that is spotless underneath and inside and out. It is also a daily driver and it see's it's share of rain. When you wash the vehicle just hose off the underneath. It will be fine. Both times I've had it in for an oil change I go underneath the vehicle to see how it is doing, it remains spotless and that is after driving on a 1100 mile trip, through rain, and ice and some snow. Through hordes of love bugs and other kinds of bugs. Just clean it up afterwards and no one will know the difference. If it makes you happy then say oh it's never seen rain.
FYIW, when the vehicles leave the last stage of the assembly line, they are taken across a set of bumps into an area to have the head lights aligned and the front end aligned. Afterwards they are moved to a testing bay where they are checked while run up. After that they leave that station for one of the final stations which is the leak test station. The vehicle is flooded with water from all directions then taken outside for a run around a track and parked in the parking lot assuming no issues arise. Oh yes I know this sounds horrible, that beauty that has never seen rain saw water just as it was born, then run around a track and parked outside in the elements until it got scheduled to be shipped. And worst yet, the vehicle had to travel on a truck no less, through all kinds of weather just to get to the dealer where it sat outside in the heat and cold and rain and everything else before you or someone else bought it.
Drive your Vette it's not going to be hurt by weather. If you want to maintain it like many others, just wash and detail it to the nth degree. No one will know the difference.
I'm not going to fix my typos just out of spite haha
That's ok
Rats, I found a leak! Torrential downpour of rain today, I guess the weatherstrip couldn't keep all that water out and it ran along the door seam to the seat belt area.

If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a few minutes and it will change. I have a torch red vert that has seen its share of rain and still looks great. Don't worry about the rain. Just enjoy your car
