Be Happy you have a vette at your age. Enjoy it but respect the power it has. I waited until I was 50 to get my first Vette, a C4. The 4 years later I upgraded to a C5....
You are never too young to buy a Corvette! I bought my baby when I was 18, and still in high school. I got a lot of teasing over it, because everyone said that my dad must have bought it for me, etc. The truth of the matter is, when everyone else was out playing after school, I was busting my rump at two jobs. I paid for her all by myself. I then went and got the personalized plate "NOTDADS". I am now 27 and still own my original beauty, but since then have owned four more too. I just sold one, and currently have two, my original 76 Coupe, and a 68 Roadster, and I am looking at buying a 69 Roadster. My yellow car still has the plate NOTDADS, and although everyone says that I have outgrown the plate now, I just can't bring myself to change it. It is her identity. Besides, it helps me to remember where I came from. I have been an advocate for young people in my area, getting into cars, and fully support the hobby from all aspects. I say, if you are young, and did it yourself, more power to ya!!!
I was 19 when I bought mine. I have a few more months and it will be paid for. When people make smart *** comments, I just tell them Im compensating for short comings.....They get a weird look on their face and walk away, then I smile and drive away
I just turned 20 in May and also graduated college with an Associates degree in May. Well, after starting full time at my work (Michelin Tire of all places ) I fell in love with a 2002 Z06. Well, the next day I drove 500 miles and bought it! Since then, I've had numerous people telling me I was to young and inexperienced to drive a Vette!? Whats with that!!!
Just wondering everyone elses thoughts on a 20 year old owning a 2002 Z06...
If you have a job and can afford the car, no problem. Do what you want. Drive safely. Did you check out the insurance?
At any age people are gonna give you crap about driving a vette. when you are young you are too young, and its daddys car. when middle aged, you are going through a midlife crisis. when you are old you just have the car to try to be young again.
..So True..
What in the world is it about corvettes that gets such response
and reactions out of people..???
first and foremost .. who cares what people think.
secondly .. it is a powerful car and honestly there was a huge adjustment period between when I got the car and when I could actually drive it properly.
just respect the car and she'll respect you .. oh and dont skimp on the tire changes, trust me.

Age is only the number of years you have spent on this planet and nothing else. I have met 30+ people who act worse then 18 year olds, and Vice a versa. If you can afford it, enjoy it!
Congratulations and Welcome! NO WAY!!! Im 19 years old and I have a 2002 Vette! Just make sure you take care of your car, be prepared to turn heads and get wanted and unwanted attention. Corvette's are BEAUTIFUL!
Age matters not, its the head on your shoulders and how well it can control that right foot. My opinion on young people with expensive/fast cars is this: If they break it, its them that has to pay for it. Therefor, its none of my business.
I had a z28 when I was 16, then a Ford Lightning when I was 19 then a 12 second Subaru STi until now (22). People still get jealous, they're ignorant, forget about 'em.
I bought mine at 17, and paid it off just before my 18th birthday. I do get a lot of crap for it but truthfully, I do not care because I am having a blast with it But everybody tried to get me to buy a more "practical" car, and I am very glad that I did not listen to them.
Hey, I am 63, and I think all 20 year old should be driving Daewoos, KIAs, and old VWs. Leave the good stuff for the old foggies, you P O S. LOL
Drive carefully, man. Note the posts here where some of us have goosed the throttle, and we immediately spin out and wreck the dang car. Might be worth spending a few bucks to take a 4 hr Vette driving course. Expensive, but it might save your life and (more imporantly) the looks of the Vette.

Wow! This thread has stirred interest, hasn't it. I think it's a rarity to find a young person with the financial ability to make the purchase. I know at 20 I couldn't. But as far as 20 being too young to own a Vette. I would think that would be a question of how old you are when you're 20. Some of us at 20 think like a 13 year old. Others have the sense and thoughts of a person much older than that. At 20 I had a car that ran mid 10s and certainly didn't handle as well as a C5. My point is, it's more a matter of who you are at ANY age whether you're 20 or 60 that's just a number. Where your head is at, That's what's important.
