Default Lightest 19 " Wheel ?

What's the lightest 19" wheel which will support a 295 or 305 on it, and what does it weight ? Thanks.

I know this might not help, but I see you have no responses yet so I'll try to help. Maybe you can look into the 2008 Std Cast Aluminum wheels, or the optional thin spoke Forged Aluminum wheels. I know you can fit a 295 on one of those. I'm just not sure if the bolt pattern would be the same for your Vette.. I would at least call the dealer and check it out. If that doesn't work then I would check out Tirerack.com
~they usually state the wheel weight with the wheel and show what it looks like on your Vette. It only shows the lighter wheel weight so that could help you. Best of luck

I would say either Fikse, Forgeline, CCW or Kinesis.

If you want an light wheel, stick with 17 or 18" all around.

Forged wheels are lighter than cast, so if he goes this route, the new 08 polished wheels are the way to go.

Wow I always thought Cast was lighter than Forged for some reason.
That being the case, I would then go for the Forged wheels.
I thought the 2001 Z06 was Forged and the 2002 Z06 was Cast aluminum?? The 02 wheels are slightly lighter. I could of sworn that's what I read a few times?

I assume since this is in the C5 section, he has a C5. The 08 wheels are not designed to fit a C6. They wont fit right on a C5. Plus there way over priced.

The 01 Z06 wheels are forged, and very light (made by Alcoa I think). Normally forged wheels are lighter. Somehow Speedline was able to make the Z06 wheel lighter for 2002-2004 using a "Spun Cast" process. I don't know the exact details of how that was done though.

The 2008 wheels wil not have the correct offset for your C5 Corvette I suspect.

I was over at LG's a month ago and Lou showed me a Forgeline wheel (ZX3R-19) that really suprised me at how light it was. I lifted a few aftermarket wheels he had in the front, then lifter this ZX3R-19 wheel. I don't know the exact weight, but it felt way lighter than anything else in the showroom. Forgeline also offers titanium fasteners (bolts) to help reduce weight more.

See Anthony's (LG Motorsport Employee) post about Forgeline specials and the ZX3R-19 wheel in his post below:

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the great info! I was sure I was correct about the 01-02 Z06 wheels. Thats pretty wild how they were able to make the cast spun Z06 wheel lighter than the forged wheel. Now I know, in general a Forged wheel is lighter and stronger than a Cast wheel. Thanks for the help See I learn something new everyday on this Forum

From a post by Ranger back in 2005:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...64&postcount=8

Stock Z06 Front Rims
01 ZO6 17x 9.5 19.6 lbs.
02 Z06 17x 9.5 19.2 lbs.

Stock Z06 Rear Rims
01 ZO6 18x10.5 21.4 lbs.
02 Z06 18x10.5 21.0 lbs.

Take a look at the sticky posts at the top of each section. They contain a LOT of info !

Forged wheels can be lighter than cast if both are designed to be equally as strong. A forged wheel can have less mass because of the forging process and its effects on the grain structure of aluminum.

One of the biggest mistakes Honda Civic owners make is that they swap in 24-lb 17 or 18-inch wheels to replace 14-lb, 14-inch wheels. The result is sluggish acceleration, poor braking and a horrible ride.
My advice is to find out how much your OEM wheels weigh and stick to wheels that are the same weight or lighter (and just as strong, of course). Keep that unsprung weight low and you/your C5 will be happy.
