even these?
http://www.oznium.com/led

they look to be more of an actual purple than the UV crap... kinda like these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

i bought a pair just to see & they're awesome. a very obvious purple, pretty bright, and good quality. i'll be buying a bunch more for the gauges in my truck, the rest of the vette interior, and a few other uses
thing is - they're totally different than the Ozniums & they're SMDs

I'd trust Tim's (Tstar) judgement on these. He's one of the resident experts on them.

Look at the mcd rating on the Oznium ones... 300, that's pretty darn dim!

I haven't seen purple SMTs yet, I've been using the PLCCs alot more lately, those might work, good find!!! Let me know how they look, then all we have to do is find the LEDs sold seperatly... Here's what's posted on that auction;

PURPLE

Purple color in LED Lighting means the color between Pink and Purple, not real Purple, real purple should be ULTRA VIOLET and only for medical use because UV is not bright enough to be bulb

I would do my whole interior over again in Purple if I could find good ones...

Tim

Is there no way to break into the drivers door switches to replace the orange LED's for the memory/mirrors ?

I finished off both door SW's, TC SW, and Trunk Fog SW last night. Looks nice but the center console is in need of attention.... Should be done in a few weeks.

gotcha

as for the SMD ones, i've been using that test set since Oct & ain't had a problem out of them they're bright & look great. i ain't got a camera, but i'll see what i can do to show you...

i actually had that company also make a custom set of 3157s with those LEDs (i think it's like 30 count or something), and they look amazing - only apparently FL won't let me drive with them wouldn't have a problem back in TN

okay, here ya go. so when i did my purple interior lights in the truck, i got them from AAC. they're a LED matrix setup of alternating reds & blues, so they're only 180*, but they did the job. the 194s are 2x2 and the 44mm festoons are 3x2.

this is the pic they sent me to show the color

(don't mind the white - that's a separate puddle light)

that's pretty close to what it looks like for real, just a little redder in person.
i got another pair of festoons for the vette mirror but had a few quality issues with the 194s so i looked for another source & found the eBay ones out of Taiwan. the contact guy is great at keeping up communication & easy to work with.
the SMD ones i bought from them match almost dead-on with the AAC ones except you don't get the color-mixed look. it's one consistent color

alright... forgive the crappy quality - they were taken with my roommate's ipod nano
so they kept throwing the auto-white balance way off, so i corrected the best i could in post

here's the eBay ones

and with the headlights (to get a slightly better color balance reference)

and here's the interior with the matrix LEDs from AAC

Thanks Tim !

I think I have decided to leave them orange/red. The Fog light, and the HVAC indicator LED's are also in orange/red so at least they will all match. I don't want to risk breaking anything. I'll just make everything else white...

Its looking really good so far I think. I completed the Footwell LED's, Map Light LED's, Fog/Trunk button (added 2x LED's), TC button, and both door switches. The inside is really starting to "glow" in pure white light... Its a nice contrast against the Black/Mod Red Z06 interior.

A few of my friends commented on how nice it looked last night and said they might do there car. Then they asked me whats involved.... and sounded less interested all of a sudden once i described the process....

I just need to do the HUD, DIC, Radio, and HVAC. I should be breaking into that this weekend.

Well... I got motivated tonight.

I completed the DIC, and HUD. I had an OH S*IT moment when I realized that the 5mm LED's I had would not fit in the HUD. My Torx #27 then #30 opened the hole up a little though.

Speedkilz web site helped a lot figuring out how to get the cluster out...

Now my Radio and HVAC stand out like a sore thumb.... I can't believe I did not notice how bad they looked before. Maybe its cause everything else now looks great...

Still waiting on my 3m LED's to finish off my Radio and HVAC....

well those from AAC are just a combo of red & blue ones like i mentioned earlier. they're literally just laid out alternating on a board like this:
_ R B R _
_ B R B

if you want these 44mm festoons as a replacement for the 212-2s in the mirror, call AAC @ 800-407-5776
ask for Justin & tell him zebra from Camaro5 referred you... he might cut you a deal on them. i've got them in the car & the truck and love them. (just note they won't be as bright in a vette as in the pic of that Chrysler because the 300 uses a few more of them... but it's still plenty bright enough to see fine)

now the SMDs are actually individually purple (those are the ones shown in my parking lights). i don't have the guy's email, but i communicated with him through the "contact seller" feature on fleaBay

here's the auction for the T10s
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3404&viewitem=

now i don't know if he can sell you just the LEDs, but it's worth asking. good luck!

Yep the HUD/Dimmer uses smaller bases, I thought I warned you about that????

Don't forget about the Blue film in the Radio and HVAC, warm white LEDs are the best I've found so far to use in em... A normal white LED will throw a distinct Blue cast!

Thanks Tim !

dont forget to replace the amber button indicator leds with the rainbow option! I use red for the front and rear defrost, blue for the a/c and green for the fresh air buttons.

Cool looking setup !
And a good idea !
Its fun messing with this stuff huh ? The combination's are endless...

I am actually going to leave the amber indicator lights alone. I am going to leave the drivers door indicator, fog lamp indicator, radio indicators, and HVAC indicators alone. Keep them all the same for consistency, if that makes sense. I am however planning to put Red and Blue LED's behind the HVAC control dials. Everything else I want in white. This is just me being **** but I like to keep a consistent look about things on my car. If one indicator is Amber... then they all will be amber.

Thanks for the idea !

I did Jason's car in all white but changed all the indicators to blue;

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...over-pics.html

That turned out really well!

I left mine all orange except for the AC and the defrosters in the HVAC, the orange looks good with the Red I went with...
