OK... I have a LED problem now. I replaced the trunk, footwells and glove box several weeks ago and all was fine.
Today I attempted to swap the map light bulbs to LED's of the rearview mirror. I tried prying the bulbs with a small screwdriver, but I eventually removed the whole mirror to do the job. When I hooked everything back up I noticed that I blew out the #2 fuse in the passenger footwell. I must have done it when I was first trying to pry the bulbs out of the mirror with the tiny screwdriver that I was first trying to use.
After I replaced the #2 fuse, I only had a spare 15 amp fuse instead of the 10 amp fuse that I replaced it with, and now my map lights will ONLY come on if I manually turn them on, and they will not come on at all when the door is open. Actually.. the trunk LED's, footwells and map light LED's won't come on at all when the door is open. The LED that's in my glove box will come on no problem at all. Is there another fuse or maybe a relay that is fried?? Everything else from the hood light, headlights, taillights and blinkers work fine. Thanks!!

You have to disassemble the mirror to do it. Replace the factory 5mm led with one of the color you want. Its easy once you get the mirror apart. That can be a little difficult.
I had the mirror off when I replaced the map lights, but I still can't figure out how to remove the little thingy to get to the bulb inside for the helper shifter light. Do you twist it off, unscrew it, or pry it off? I was afraid that I was going to break it. Thanks!
Gen - Sounds like you still have a fusen blown somewhere, I don't have my schematics handy but double check em...
You have to pull the entire outer ring of the mirror off to get to the guts of the thing... It's a 50/50 shot getting that ring off without damaging it or the mirror case.
Ok... Just so everybody else will know, after further investigation and searching on the forums I finally figured out my problem with my foot well, trunk and map light's not working.
I actually blew 2 fuses while swapping out my map light bulbs for LED's, and the 2 fuses ended up being the #2 and the #29 in the foot well fuse compartment. Both are 10 amp fuses.
The forums are a really big help and I am very thankful for all of the knowledge that has been placed here in order to help other Corvette owners out.
The HVAC usually turns out pretty good with a direct bulb swap. One thing I like to do is place a Blue LED under the Blue temperature sweep and a Red LED under the Red sweep. This adds color to the dial indicator on the Passenger Temperature control dial.
Notice the Big 10mm LED to the left of the display. I did this as an experiment and it worked so well in lighting this rocker switch I kept it in. It would also work well for the Recirculate/Fresh Air Rocker switch. You'll have to cut a larger hole in the rubber backing for the 10mms.
If you get some dark fringing around some of the buttons, you need to trim away the rubber collar around that LED;

I'm getting the parts together for this now. I would like to do all white LEDs in the radio and HVAC. Would I just replace all the colors you have here (except for the 2 blue, 2 red for the temp controls) with white? I see you have some blue and some red in here. Is there a film that I would need to worry about?
That is a really old pic! I use nothing but 5mm LEDs now...
But to answer your question, yes you would replace all the LEDs with WARM WHITE LEDs except for the Red and Blue ones under the temp sweeps. As you alluded to, there is a Blue film embedded in the faceplate and if you do not use Warm White (WW) LEDs you'll get a ice blue instead of white. The WWs still give a slight greenish hue but it's the closest you'll get to a true White then anything else on the market right now.
Make sure you ohm between a power and ground lead on an LED to check for shorts BEFORE you power the board up!!!!!
Hell no! BTW I need that source again for the LEDs, I used the batch they sent me in an HVAC...
The Radio and HVAC come out great with just the LEDs, the remainder of the car we'll have to use the LEDs and gel. A paper punch cuts out a nice circle of the gel that can be glued down unto the PLCCs. The only hick up is going to be getting those PLCCs to work in the HUD/Dimmer switch, everything else is going to be good to go... I think!
Does anyone have comparison shots of a red interior vs a blue one?
It seems photographing these in dark conditions yields varying results. My car is about to go up on blocks for a week (vacation, yay!) and I intend to add this work to the project list. I just can't decide if I want red for subdued lighting at night... or if I want blue as the crisper/easier to see variant.
You have a damn NICE White LED interior ta boot!!!
Matt... Did I do his, his name and handle sounds familiar??? Anyway, let's hope someone local with Blue steps up and we can try and get the three of you guys together for a shoot. Cool???
Hell, if you know anyone local to you thinking about doing a Blue interior I'll cut em a good deal just to get the pics!
