This is an awesome thread. I just finished doing my door switches, my HVAC controls, and my traction control. They look beautiful. Thanks. Tomorrow I'll do the rest.

FYI. I didn't remove the wave guide in the traction control and it still looks great.

I know this is the interior LED mod thread but I installed these 80 watt Cree LED 1157's in my reverse lights today. Keep in mind my reverse light lenses have dark tint over them.

I'll try to get more pics tomorrow. Still haven't done the HUD/dimmer. Smaller holes on that one. I tried grinding the LEDs. I'll drill out the holes and see if I can make it work. If not I'll use 3mm LEDs. I used 5mm for everything else and it worked fine.

Looks great!!!!

Yes 3mm LEDs for the HUD/Dimmer switch. The Page button, you'll want to try and get the LED down in the hole aimed towards the button...

Cool!!

BTW... What's up with your "Driver" icon on your HVAC, the LED go out???

I sometimes have to put two LEDs under those icons to when doing Blue as it over powers Red...

I guess I just need to aim my LEDs better.

What is the current advice as to which size and brand of LEDs to use in the window control panels?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim!!

I still use 5mm with resistors soldered unto them. I can control the angle and depth that way for an almost prefect look.

I've heard really good things about the new plug and play LEDs that are out now. I know JW is selling a lot of them.

Thanks Tim,

Why the resistors? To reduce the light output?
I did this years ago with my window controls and just used the NeoWedge LEDs without resistors in white and they just seemed way too bright in relation to the rest of the interior lights. So I reverted the window controls back to their OEM bulbs. But I would like to try it again.

Tim,

Did you ever try adding a non-socket LED for just the Page button area?

Normal car voltage of around 12 volts would fry an unprotected LED, The resistor is to knock the voltage down to a usable and safe voltage. The Neos have resistors built into them. LEDs will be much brighter then the stock bulbs, the trick is to convert all of your lighting over to LEDs and then turn your dimmer down to a level that suits you...

I use 3mm LEDs in there and stick them way down in the hole practically touching the back of the page button. Very tedious to say the least!

Bringing this thread back. The plug n play stuff that jw has now (like footwells, and other interior lights) is really just plug n play? I saw earlier on mods would have to be done for everything to work correctly. I am not wanting to mess with the hvac and stuff yet but plan to later. Looking at toquez06 website it looks like all of that stuff was just plug n play with the hyperflash fix.

Am I correct?

I was planning on using the plug n play strips from jw for the foot wells (red) and white led for every other light
