Thanks, Feel free to pm Me aborice Tim. But I'm kinda hesitant to spend money over the Internet like that again right now. Bought an ac compressor from 1SikVette (vendor) and well things are not going to we'll (search my started treads if you like) for more info. That's why I'm kinda wanting someone local, other wise I might just go buy a solder sucker and give it a try.
Thanks for the heads up Jack, Hope it didn't come off thinking your not trust worthy or anything Tim. Obviously your not him, I just have to make sure I'm more cautious when buying online now, sadly. Please pm me info and I will keep you in mind for sure.
Any1 in north Houston area available to do my hvac for me (LEDs). I just did my resisters for the digital readout and didn't even think about the lights (guess almost all mine are burnt out?
Here's what I ended up with
I can replace the factory bulb with incandescent, but I haven't had very much luck with LEDs. It's also a good idea to replace all 14 of the bulbs at once since bulbs dying cause a chain reaction in the others to fail faster as a result of current surges.
It's also worth mentioning that the HVAC buttons have a slightly blue tint in them from the factory. If you use Pure white LEDs, this causes them to appear light blue when installed. To get a pure white color, you need to use warm white LEDs.

I replaced all my interior bulbs with hyper white, but tstar wisely advised that we put warm white LEDs in the HVAC to match; otherwise, the HVAC would have been light blue and would have stuck out. If you want to go LED, I recommend tstar. He did great work on my radio and HVAC .
Its mentioned early in the thread that you can use bulb covers on the original lights if you want to go with red lighting. Is this doable for the whole system including radio and HVAC? How many? 14?
As a test I removed the original blue covers on the door lights which gave a brighter almost amber color FWIW.
Oh yeah, it's very doable... That's what I did intially 7 years ago! Wow, 7 years!!!!!
Anyway, it is very inexspensive to do it that way BUT it was also VERY dim... If you have younger eyes, it may just be that ticket for ya, it's certainly worth it to try a few components and see how you like it!
I went with Tim and JW Motoing to rework my radio and HVAC and i'm extremely happy with the results. He did a great job and was able to get my stuff back to me from one Saturday to the next. From Ks to Pa and Back. I had a few questions afterwards (several times) and Tim replied same day with the answers i needed. The blue LED's look incredible.

how'd the purple end up turning out? or did you ever get a chance to finish it?
I haven't played with it again, that's going to be one of my winter projects. I'll convert my whole interior over to purple! Not too sure what to do about my HUD switch or the Map Lights yet... I'm thinking I'll replace the middle row of Red LEDs with Blue ones and that should give a good purple...
What all have you finished with them? I know the HVAC and Radio look perfect with just the LEDs

not very sucessful in search...
What are the latest options for the gauge faces? Speedhut doesn't seem to list them.
I prefer a black face with numbers lit in red.
Previous owner put in white faces, I'd even prefer stock over that.
Thanks!

for the map lights, i used some plug-n-play festoons from AAC that are a 2x3 board alternating reds & blues. then i used a piece of that blue gel i told you about on the inside of the lens. then the floorboard is lit with those same chips you bought on a T10 base (again, with the gel on the lens). same with the license plate & turn signals/corners (signals having 30 LEDs on a 3157 base obviously).
my advice for your HUD switch, coming from a little bit of color mixing LEDs in the theatrical world, would be to do more blues than reds... something like a 3:2~ish ratio. equal power between the two colors creates magenta & the more red you have, the more pink it gets. purple is super-hard to get right with LEDs. you could play around with swapping reds for blues to get the color you want or you can try making them an even split & using the gel. i ain't sure which would end up being easier. i can't wait to see it because i still wanna do mine, too
