Exxon reports record income
Take a look at Exxon's recent Annual report - recording seeting Net Income of $40.6 Billion $ - CEO received bonus / stock of $18million - what a crock what can we expect when our Prez is so tied to Oil $
well we hit it ,3.99 a gallon here in Westchester new york, whats the price of high test in your city, some bodys gotta help us here, and how is diesel which is less refined then gasoline cost more??? is anyone out there thinking of selling the vette?? Im sure not
I haven't seen $3.99 a gallon in Westchester yet? Where was this?
Filled up here in Indian Territory yesterday and 91 octaine was $3.45. Diesel just went over $4.00. The frustrating thing is here in a small town the local 3 gas stations rip us off for an additional .05 to .10 a gallon.

DeeGee,
Out of curiosity, do you know how much of that is fuel taxes?

You are getting screwed by your own "leaders" They want you to "cut down" so they can come running with "help"! That is OK, you and the rest of America won't believe me or the tens of thousands that know what we are talking about,,,,,to your peril! Gas will be $6.00 buy the end of next year! Keep bitching and keep not listening,,,,,$10.00 by 2010!
Tell the Gov to get out of our way and we can bring it back down to $2.50 by 2012, maybe!
We have enough shale oil reserves in the US for the next 300 years
Fellow Vette Enthusiasts,
I have been following these threads and there is no doubt, we're all pissed off the horrible fuel prices. So here's some more news to really **** us all off even more.... Believe it or not, the solution is right here at home...
I am not an expert in this, but here's how I understand it. Geologists out there, feel free to correct me.
In the Green River basin (large area covering Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah), we have enough oil shale reserves to produce gasoline to last us the next 300 years. In fact, we have so much of it, we could actually export it. Oil shale is a precursor to crude oil. To extract it in a form we can use to create gasoline, the ground has to be heated to speed up the natural process that converts shale into crude oil. This makes the extraction process more difficult & expensive than traditional extraction with full baked oil. However, with crude oil at $115+ a barrel, we have hit, if NOT exceeded, the break-even point. Interestingly, I have heard presidential candidates make many promises, but I have NOT heard one of them bring this up.
Anyone want to start a shale oil drilling and extraction company with me? At these gas prices, we would be able to rape the public.

A high percentage; maybe as high as 72% at the last count. The only good news is that it acts as a cushion when the actual fuel cost goes up. The direct increase is a smaller percent.
Trouble is it wont change. The European trend is towards smaller less polluting more efficient cars. In UK we have aGovernment who want to avoid building more roads and those we have are crowded. It goes in their favor to price people out of the market. Make car journeys essential and force people onto public transport.
we just need a cheaper alternate source of power, once that is discovered, we will have the oil companies byt the *****!
remember when aol was the only top email provider charging 24.95? remember when MCI and sprint were the only long distance carriers?
it will come...have faith!
Ya until they buy the patent and shelf the technology with their record profits.
Look at refinery utilization on the EIA website.
The oil companies are running the refineries at a lower rate than post Katrina!!!! Tell me that is not price fixing!!!!!!!
They are trying to get unleaded inventories back in the 5 year average range.About one month ago inventories were so high that they were almost off the chart. Check it out!

I saw or read this as well. I also read that here in the USA, we have more coal than Russia and China put together. The problem with shale oil and coal produced gas is that it's very hard on the enviroment and the EPA won't allow this prduction to go forward. Also I read that using the current technology world wide, that when pumping out crude oil from the wells in Saudi Arabia and actually anywhere, that we only get about 45 to 60% of the oil that is down there. The other 30 to 40 % is unreachable right now. But if we are able to come up with better solutions to the process, we might be able to get at this oil. Plus all countries world wide keep bidding more and more for a barral of oil every day, so we are going to have high oil prices no matter what. Here in the US though, dispite ExxonMobil earning 40 billion in profits, we haven't built a new refinery in 27 years. I only reading this, and I'm no expert, but we've been told that if demand dropped and supplies were to increase, the price would go down! But that has happened and still the price goes up. I'm not blaming anyone cause there is a lot that I don't know, but I think the problem is not the cost of fuel, but the fact that it's costing so much and has increased in such a short time. The oil companies can't have it both ways. I'm not against profits, Walmat made 327 billion last year alone, but we can hold off going to Walmart, but we can't hold off going to the gas station. we have to go to work and the family needs to be moved around. I don't think that gas prices will ever go down, the profit in oil is too great and greed is so powerful. But I think we would all like to see some common sense present itself now. IMHO !
