I was leaving work the other day and caught the reflection of my car in the building next to ours as I drove by, simply stunning. No, it will never be dated in my book. Remember the 82 was dated versus the 84, but ask most people today and they would likely take the 82. Not to pick on the 84, but the design was just so cool on the 82. I appreciate every year Corvette and don't worry about what my friends think.

Really?
Have they been drinking or what?

The C5 does not look dated, but it doesn't look like a C6- especially with those clear plastic thingies on the front end.

Yes, the C5 does look dated and that is not a bad thing. By dated I mean it's 12 years old and looks different than cars with "new styling". It's not as angular as the more modern design, which I happen to like. It is a great looking car and I prefer it over the C6 except the C6Z06 which I would still call a toss up.

I'm going to say right now that 99% of people would say that a 97 C5 was a 2005+ if asked to guess.

Not sure if you expect any different answer in C5 gen than "no!"

That being said, I love my c5s. Still think they look GREAT.

Here are a few comparison pix for you from Labor Day weekend. I posted them in a thread that week, I believe.

Funning how people use the word dated.
Funny how old styles become new again after there left out of the picture.
I saw a new mustang parked next to a 86-93 style 5.0 stang and it wasnt the old one that looked dated.
in the 90's the 5.0 where all over the place, now that i dont see them and i see the new ones all the time they dont look so bad.
Yep some people may think my C4 is dated but unless their going to give me the money to buy a new Z06 I guess ill keep driving my C4 and "loving every minute of it"
O snap aint that and old 80'S Rock Tune

IMHO C5`s will keep up style wise for a loooooooong time...I think that C4`s ...look very outdated....maybe the only model Corvette that doesn`t look kool anymore....all the other generations Corvettes are kool and ppl turn heads!....BTW I had owned 3 C4`s...`91, `92 and an `96 LT4

Meh, depends.......I have a buddy with a black on black 93 coupe with the Greenwood kit (not the full, GAWDY kit) with chrome ZR1wheels...and it still looks great...The car only has 8K miles on it.....He also has a beautiful green with white interior 94 Convertible with 11K miles, and a FLAWLESS white with grey interior 90 Greenwood coupe that has a mere 3800 miles on the clock...Believe it or not, it still smells new
He seems to think theyll hit paydirt someday, so he keeps the miles down on them......I told him they wont see investment potential in his lifetime (he's 64) so he might as well drive them and get some use out of them, or at least sell em for what he can and buy a C5 or C6..

These cars are NOT DATED. They look fabulous and the only reason to replace it is because you want another model.

Absolutely from the driver's seat. The radio in particular, but also the dash lighting.

I'm never selling mine. (I do plan on adding a C6 to the stable in a few years though)

Plan on ADDING one as well.

Default dated nope

The question is completely subjective toward the person doing the evaluation but to be honest, my best consensus is that the corvettes never go dated. Shoot I was getting looks when I had my C4. People constantly said the car was great looking and I got plenty of offers to sell it. Never in the 9 years I had the car did I ever get one comment on the car looking dated. Come to think of it, I never heard of any vette friend of mine ever telling me someone thought their car was dated. Could be you just found the one "oddball or friends" out there that commented like that. To each their own, but I think all vettes look light years ahead. I get plenty of comments now on my C5 that people think its brand new. They are so surprised when I tell them its a generation old.

The only thing, I personally myself think GM could of done better with the C5's was the back end. The "big butt", I wish I could have look more like the C6. I will hand GM credit in that they definitely took the criticism from the C5'ers and got the back end of the C6 car just right. Other then that, love my C5.

I think a stock C5 is outdated and boring without some sort of a Mod or two. Probably why most people do something to them and to accessorize or personalize them. Thats why I changed mine to be so different (like it or not thats fine with me). GM could of done sooo much more with the new C6 as well! Yes I know the ZR1 that most of us will only dream of owning. The C5 will go the way of the Gen 5 Camaro. They were dropping like stones in price, even before the finacial crisis, and will continue to do so (unfortunetly). Is it outdated at this point yes! Everyone talks about lines on a C5, nothing compared to the C1,2,and some c3's

Sorry guys to go against the grain on this one.
