Looks like a nice, clean job you did. Too bad GM didn't have it on the car in the first place.

After seeing this post I bid on and won a homelink visor off that one site and it arrived today! Turns out there are ones that do work with rolling code garage openers and ones that do not work. Guess which one I got. Dammit. Luckily I powered the homelink up and tested it before I started modifying my visor.
So if you're going to get a homelink visor make sure it is a newer model and not the older ones which don't work with the rolling code openers.

Very Clean install, looks great. I plan on using the same concept to mount a home link in a Double Din Bezel when I decided to make the switch.
Not sure if the Vendors are going to like you pointing out how easy it was to make. I have always felt the Visors are very overpriced

So, if someone were to get into your vehicle, what's to stop them from stealing the visor/HOMELINK and using battery power it to get into your garage? Or would loss of 12v power cause a loss of memory? Can the HOMELINK even be used with battery power? Provided of coarse they can figure out how to get the visor off the mount...
To the original poster, nice professional looking job. Also, you don't find many shops willing to do something for gratis anymore, especially these days.

It would be alot easier to take a clip on door opener then to rip out a visor.

OK, I bought a module, the instructions for adding it are easy enough, but how the heck do you take the visor off in the first place?

With the visor next to the windshield put a small screwdriver in the slot where it mounts to the roof, then while holding the screwdriver in that slot slowly pull the visor around toward the door. It will meet up with the screwdriver and rotate that little ring and let you pull it out then. I had to exert a little pressure to get it to rotate when they met up.

One question...is it about the same size as the stock Corvette rear mirror? The ads make it look bigger.
