May I ask a question?
Doesn't the vararam take over the front brake cooling duct inlets at the bumper, and therefore you loose this part of the stock brake cooling design?

NO! SIR! that is "NOT" the design.

If you look closer you will notice that it takes advantage of the stock "CLOSED" off fog light surrounds. Those are removed in favor of the VARARAM inlet ducts (Plus it retains the fog light hole- so no you don't loose use of your fog light either).

You will see that this design is far superior than what you thought about it taking the braking ducts, the Fog Light (Again factory blocked off ) surrounds a WAY bigger than the small brake duct surround, therefore giving a larger Cold Air Inlet feature!

Hope this helps

Thanks,Matt

I'm guessing Callaway could....

VR is the only intake that can claim any real ram air on the C5 without hood or front clip modifications that I am aware of!

Posted here earlier,,,,,,,,,I could and can feel the VRB2!

Could it be better made, heck ya! beat it at the strip!

I have a good compromise for you. I have the MTI Racing Honker knock off. Works just like the honker, except you don't have to cut your shroud (precut one included), has a new filter, plus you can keep your stock set up so you can repl when you get rid of your car. It comes with a powerduct and couplings. Here is some pics:

$225 shipped - 1/2 price of Honker and $150 less than Vararam and duct. I have an oil cooler on mine so it will not fit. Let me know if interested.

Thanks.

I am not going to takes sides or argue aerodynamics. Just add a real life fact.

I live in West Texas. Temps are above 100 degrees all the time. We have hit 114 degrees a few times.

I have a honker. I have never seen my coolant temp go over 210 degrees. Ever. It usually stays around 194 degrees. I have driven here with the Honker for over 5 years.

Any low pressure or hot air worries are unjustified.

Good point. I made my own ram air setup that blasts outside air at my Halltech Stinger intake. Not only does it keep intake air temps way down, but it also keeps my engine bay temps down - very important to preserve the life of belts, hoses, electronics, and batteries. And even though the polycarbonate scoop sits in front of the radiator, there is never a rise in coolant temps over what I saw before the mod.
