What exhaust are you runing and what year Z06? Awsome numbers by the way.
I can wait to install mine just got headers today.
posting which starter wires went where would have been a great idea i took a picture and it didn't get the third post. ... 4 hours my ***!
Right now i'm trying to figure if the black wire with white stripe goes to the back post on the starter or to the ground on the engine.. what was my sillyness. there.
Is there some magic extension for the drivers side 02 because it's not long enough in stock configuration. also, what do I do with the wires that the header is touching on the passenger drivers side?

Drivers side O2 sensor, unclip it from the frame rail and it will reach. Zip tie all "stuff" hanging by the headers up and out of the way. Just get them over and zip tie down away from the headers, should be pretty easy t find something to tie to, anything will work!
For the starter....
You will have the small purple wire going to the small 8mm post.
you will have red power wire and the grey/orange combo both going to the big post. The other big post is left alone for the black wire going from the starter to the solenoid only! If you have a new car with the plastic box that sits on top of the battery, you NEED the nut on the box, not the box just over the post.... nut needs to be on as well. Stupid I know but I had one hell of a situation figuring that stupid thing out!
figured out the wire Thanks Anyway... the black wire from the solenoid to the starter is kind of silly and hidden in EVERY internet pic... once the starter is in removing that damn ground wire and **** from the block is hell reinstalling it is the next thing to impossible.
I have quite a few pics. I also took the opportunity to replace the c5 center divider/whatever between the exhaust and torque tube with a C6 piece and throw some sound deadener/head shield on top, even with the shielding i shaved .8 # off the weight of the C5 stamped steel unit. so end of day 2 car is still apart might go back together tomorrow night.

cool cool, glad you got it all figured out! The only ground I ever removed was from the starter itself...
If you have any other questions tomorrow feel free to give me a call!
There is the braided ground strap going to the Driver's side of the block that had to be removed, DON'T forget to reinstall it!
A 4 hour install is very doable believe it or not... I bet if you had an experienced helper and all the right tools and did another one you'd be darn close to 4 hours.
I tried warning first timers earlier in the Thread that ANY Header install is not an easy endeavor by any means. You should try installing a set that doesn't fit well... THAT's a friggin nightmare!
Good job and I'll tell ya in all seriousness, you should be proud you did it yourself!

I planned on swapping mine out this weekend. After swapping the Ls6 intake in, fighting with changing the air tube out, and changing the oil pressure sensor I was way too hot and tired.
I will be doing a comparison with OBXs which I'm replacing. I can tell you now they are tiny pipes compared to these.
I have done 4-5 trans am installs so I am not a total rookie my first vette though while bolts are much easier to get to extra stuff has to be taken off
I'm about half way done with my install. My time to work on it each day is very limited and I have been taking my time.
I've done quite a bit all at once. I have relocated the oil pressure sender via TPE's kit( very nice setup) swapping intake manifolds, coolant cross over pipe ( still waiting on the 2nd one), managed to screw up 1 plug wire, built my own tunnel plate from 3/8 plate aluminum ( not a bad project, could do a 2nd one 2x as fast)..and installing the headers and eliminating the AIR system.
I have everything in place now..I've been working on it solo and was able to get them in with minimal issue. I put both sides in from the bottom. I'm working on jack stands in the driveway. The drivers side went in very easy. The passenger side took a little more effort. I undid the wires to the starter then decided to loosen the motor mounts from the bottom and jack the engine up ...(hooked the starter back up as I realized they were not a problem with the motor jacked up)..then slid the header in from the bottom to get it started..then climbed out and pulled it up to it's home from the top. I did have to undo the ground strap on both sides, I also removed the coil packs for good measure. Not to bad really. I could do it A LOT faster a second time. Everything is in place. It was HOT today so I called it quits. I'll tighten all the exhaust up tomorrow leaving only the stuff under the hood left to finish ( intake, coolant pipes, plugs, wires ect)
I spent a few extra bucks for OME gaskets and band clamps for the x-pipe, locking header bolts. Picks to follow when I'm done.
