Well thank you all very much for the help. I'm gonna try the ignition switch this weekend. I'm sorry about not mentioning the HVAC issue earlier, but I had been dealing with that for so long with no other issues with the car I didn't think of it until I noticed that when it worked so did everything else. As for not posting in tech, I have noticed that whenever I have issues if I post them in tech, I rarely get much feedback, so I tried posting here in general for more exposure. But in the future I will post in tech. I'll let you all know how this turns out.

Yep, you'd be surprised how things can be related. Bill Curlee's ignition switch repair is excellent. If there is something you need help with, or need service manual procedures.....send me a PM with your email address, and I'll send it to you in .pdf format.

Well, I took the ignition switch apart a few hours ago, and drove around for a little bit. I noticed a few things. 1, the HVAC display comes on strong all the time, and works perfectly. 2, the door alarm dings all the time if a door is open, even if the key is not in the ignition. 3, the idle has evened out, and seems like I remember it being before. So I have a few more days of driving to do in order to be sure that no new codes come up, but I have a good feeling about this. I threw the red top on the charger to see if it holds the charge, and if it doesn't I'll just invest in a new one I suppose. I want to say thank you to lucky131969 and Greg_E especially because you guys sure got me going in the right direction. If either of you make it to the San Diego area, the beer is on me. Thank you all again.

Just because you throw a oxygen sensor code does not mean you have bad sensors. It means they are getting a reading that does not fall into specs. You should test before you change.
Example:I've seen lean mixture codes thrown out all the time, usually its a fuel pump. The chance of four sensors going out are slim.

This doesn't sound right. Maybe you just mis-typed the sentence. The door alarm should only sound if the key is in the ignition, at least that is how mine has always been.

It's very interesting that something as simple as an ignition switch can cause so many other symptoms. Definitely good info in this thread.

I agree that it isn't normal, my car has never made the dinging with no key in the ignition...guess I put something together wrong? But yeah, it now dings if the door is open with no key in the ignition.

According to this diagram, the fullback needs to pick up the inside linebacker which will open it up for a halfback sweep to the strong side.

By the way, it sounds like the OP is well on his way to getting this thing fixed. Yeah!

Had this ghost key chime also. GM has a TSB on this issue.

TSB Here
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...+from+Ignition

1997 - 1999: Service Bulletin: Chime Sounds When Key is Removed from Ignition

Subject: Chime Sounds When Key is Removed from Ignition, Intermittent Operation of Power Door Locks, Keyless Entry, Steering Column Lock or Memory Seats (Inspect/Replace Lock Cylinder Actuator or Lock Cylinder Assembly)
Source: Chevrolet Dealer Technical Service Bulletin
Number: 99-08-49-008

Models:

1997-99 Chevrolet Corvette, Malibu
1997-99 Oldsmobile Cutlass
1998-99 Oldsmobile Intrigue
1999 Oldsmobile Alero
1999 Pontiac Grand Am

This Bulletin is being revised to add additional symptoms and conditions. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 83-83-20 (Section 8 - Chassis/Body Electrical)

Condition:

Some customers may comment that the key warning chime continues to sound after the ignition key has been removed from the ignition lock cylinder. They may also comment that the automatic power door locks will not lock the doors when the key is removed from the ignition lock cylinder and the warning chime is sounding.

On Corvette models, some customers may comment that there is an intermittent operation of the passive keyless entry system, the steering column lock, or the retracting feature of the memory power seat option when exiting the vehicle.

Cause:

The actuator, located in the ignition lock cylinder, may be sticking after the key is removed.

Correction:

Remove the ignition lock cylinder for the instrument panel using the following procedures. Once removed from the vehicle, use the "Actuator Type Identification" and "Test Procedure" sections later in this bulletin to determine the correct repair procedure
