Let's make the shroudless GP happen. I'm sitting on a ton of the HID bulbs for these.
Man I could have called this was going to happen. Whenever I have money sitting in the bank this thread sits quiet, as soon as I go and blow my money on something this thread comes back to life. Last week I spent my money on a privacy fence.
This can be done on my end JW, if that's what the group wants.
I will call my Hella supplier and fabrication/powdercoating shop and let you know...
So Pete, your post hit me in the head like a sledgehammer...
Of all the people that want these headlights, you posess the proven resources to help us finish them.
Maybe the three of us can talk about working something out?
I can certainly supply a set of lights and depending on potential production numbers cover some of the R&D? If it turns out anything close to the quality of the Vortex chin I just bought from you, we'd have a winner!!
BTW, the conceptual drawings for that Vortex chin were developed by the same very talented individual who has developed our conceptual drawings for the turtleneck shroud (and the Sun Gun pdf installation instructions); C5vetteguy!
Think on it...
Hey guy's I spoke on the phone earlier with Michael and im going to see if my manufacturer can produce the shroud for us. I don't think it will be that difficult for them it's just a matter of us getting the look we want. Im just waiting to hear back from them. If they can do it I will get a set of these and install them on my car, then take the whole light assembly off and ship it to them for them to start making the mold/shroud. We would get updated pix as I normally do with my products and we can make the changes we need. Im pretty sure that they will also be able to make them in carbon fiber for us as well (thats the route I would go)

I don't care if mine are carbon fiber or not. I'm just going to paint them flat black. If there's a significant weight reduction between the carbon fiber and non-carbon fiber, that might make me care. LOL But since the shrouds are small as it is, I can only imagine the difference is only going to be about 1-2 Lbs total.

Yea wouldn't really be for weight savings, lol just the cool factor. The carbon parts we normally produce usually come out very smooth and require no prep before paint, so if I can get them made really cheap (to help keep the cost of the lights down) then it's the way to go. Normally when buying in bulk like that I can get a good price. We'll wait and see.

With the carbon, can you leave it alone or do you at least need to put a clear coat on it? If I go the carbon route I'd like to show it instead of paint over it. If I go the other material I'd just leave it flat black.
Man, can't wait for this to start moving forward. About the only thing that's gonna be wierd when I get these on is that the HUD always floats right by the headlight when they're up, now it's just gonna be floating there by itself.

Yes you can leave it as is you do need to clear over it. They have a UB coating already to protect them. Wouldn't really be an issue as these will be hidden most of the time. The carbon would be just like my other stuff. Just waiting on a reply back from manufacturing

Glad you're stepping up on this QZ06

The design is evolving into a more modified version of the photoshopped "turtlenecks" c5vetteguy produced for us.
The main change being that the turtleneck is a little shorter, as requested by a couple of the testers to be able to see more of the bezel from the side and only rolls up the outer edges/sides of the projector bezels.
There is simply not enough room to allow the turtleneck to completely circle the entire bezel of each projector.
Thus I had to create, in a effect, a tunnel and cutout look top and bottom that contours to the bezel edge and then rolls outward to the t-necks.
Additionally, the turtleneck is only located at the outside radius of each projector.
The area located between the two projectors has been the most difficult to try to make look right. . . .
If you think of it, mention the bit about keeping the sides visible to the design team.
