I'd start by calling the Corvette recycling places and see if you can find the parts you need in the right color. It's entirely possible they have them in stock with perfect paint and can ship them to you at a fraction of the cost it would otherwise cost to fix the car.

That way, you can take the extra $$ from the insurance settlement and spend it on whatever else you want.

I really expected the damage to be much worse after reading your description of the events. Glad you're ok. As someone else already mentioned, make sure you get an alignment done too, getting whacked like that probably threw it out of spec.

So you were able to maintain control of the car after having most of the rear ripped off like that?

Will do re: alignment...

As I think about it I remember that on initial impact my back end kicked to my left--but this baby was easily corrected without further incident...

It really handled extremely well--but, after all, it's a VETTE!!!

My mag red coupe didnt look THAT bad when i was rearended. However the fiberglass "tub" in the back was splintered, so all of it was replaced, new quarters, new bumper, paint, etc. $6300 and 4 weeks. make sure insurance adjuster checks that tub for you!

No way....

The damages does not appear to be that bad. Looks a lot worse than what it really is.

The Insurance company will not pay for OEM parts since none of our Cars a 2 years or newer. You will get LKQ or recondition parts which are used OEM parts.

This damage looks to be no more than $4700.00 The parts them selves looks to be about $1600.00 now we need to include labor at $42.00 an hour paint and supplies ect.

I am happy your safe....

If the tub is damaged, it's 8k-10k at a decent shop in San Diego.
If it's all cosmetic, like tub still good, no damage to the suspension, exhaust, subframe, etc, I'd just cash the check and put in salvaged panels (or new and color matched) myself.

Put it on jack stands and have the adjuster check it very thoroughly. Mine did not, the body shop doubled the bill without telling the insurer and I had to take a fixed car instead of a big check for a total loss.

Heck of a way for the car to go on a weight reduction program. Sorry about the damage, but sure glad you were not injured. Good luck getting this all straightened out and the car fixed.

The TUB has splinter/stress cracks at the fender brace attachment point on the psgr side... I was going to ask: is that a repair or replace??

FYI--just got back from the Doc--I am now walking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame

But the doc says the muscle spasms will be gone in a few days & I'm OK... Not so sure about mentally!

Funny: my blood pressure is usually about 110 /78--at the hospital it was 159/130... I guess it was from the near loss of a loved one (my Vette)....
