Sorry to hear about your car, but I'm much more glad to hear you and any passenger is ok...
I agree with the above. Why not add a new Tigershark rear, or Specter Werkes
Specter Werkes is my favorite...
You can also start asking the Corvette recycle places for parts in your color ! You might be lucky and find what you need !
Toque
If going back to stock I would go Corvette recycle and ask for same color parts. You can do that yourself and the color might match well enough to avoid paint.
That just sucks! Glad it wasn't any worse. I think a comparable rental is in order. The C6 ZHZ from Hertz should make you feel better until you get yours back!
I see # 3 lane traffic slowing ahead of the truck... The truck locks it up--and I accelerate to get past the potential disaster... well, next thing I know, the truck is losing control with it's front end partially into my lane...
I think I can time it to dive-thru the ever-closing opening in front of me, so I PUNCH IT HARD!!!
Great!!! I have timed it well--I pass the truck's front (see the cab pass by out my psgr window)...
I am almost ready to celebrate my victory in a close-call when WHAM--the truck's rear end fish-tails into my right rear quarter panel and also rips off my rear fascia!!
Sorry for your damage.
You passed the cab but then the rear end of his truck fish tails into you after you already passed him?
You clipped the truck trying to pass it at the last second?
I feel your pain, when I crashed mine back in the spring I was so depressed I had to see a shrink. But he referred me to another DR and found out I had very out of whack testerone levels and a few other things that I did not know. I am now feeling better than I have in 15years and have lost 95 pounds since march. The low testerone made me have no energy so I just kept putting on weight. I have gone from a size 46 jeans to a 40.
My car is finally back together and looks perfect although it did take several trips back to the shop but they fixed everything I pointed out.
Mine was a 98 and the damage was $15,000 They said it was totaled but I argued with them and the insurance decided to agree to fix it because of its sentimental value to me. I think me crying when they told me that they wanted to total it helped sway their decision.
Just be glad you or no one else was hurt and the car can be fixed.
If mine could be I know yours can.
Great Story & Congrat's on your healthy turn-around!!
Your car now looks GREAT!!
(but it really bugs me that Body Shops leave the windows down during the repairs--getting all that dirt/dust inside!)
Sorry for your damage.

I've had to think that over and over also.... Remember--we were both still moving forward.... His front entered my lane, narrowing my path.. I head for daylight... His rear starts coming around from his correction... I think I'm gonna make it.... Wham--his rear nails my rt rear quarter... Then his front spins, again, into my lane behind me--and he briefly goes on 2 wheels (his driver's side)... Somehow he does not flip, gets control, and pulls over...
I first thought his FRONT bumper got me--I was as surprised as you to see it was, most likely, his rear lift gate support (sticks out below end of cargo box)..
Is there such a thing as a "loss of future value"?
In other words--because my Vette will no longer have the original parts, with mfg. date stickers, chalk signatures, etc., will it have less desirability to prospective owners many years from now?
Not that my base coupe is any big deal... But I've had a lot of time to think 'cause I can't go driving...
2. Next time you see some azzhat losing control going too fast and losing control and he's already 50 ft ahead of you, hit your brakes! It's no doubt you've got better brakes than he did, especially with his load... You're fortunate you didn't end up with a couple dozen eggs dripping all over your baby, especially since you said he was up on two wheels!
It would have been a cool "near miss/ close call/ Vette speed and maneuverability saved my bacon" story IF you had made it... I'm glad it was just a tap.
Good luck with the repairs and kudos on the "bright side" perspective!

& for Pete O:
I really don't think braking was an option... He was 50 ft ahead at the onset--but when I saw his tires smoking I'm not exactly sure of anything except his front end swerving into my lane... and I did have cars right on my tail.... I hope I made the right choice... I perceived, at that time, the truck as NEXT to me.... I DO think I was able to prevent the entire side of my Vette being taken out...
Who knows... I could braked, perhaps avoided the truck, and then been rear-ended! Or been pushed under the truck's rear? Too many what-if's... There was a witness--I am anxious to read the CHP report...
But I'm OK, the car will be fixed, the truck driver and all others are OK, and scrambled eggs are good!
I really appreciate all of your suggestions, input, and well-wishes!
I really like the Tigershark front, but just can't get used to the rear treatment... I know, I know,---it's really cool, highly desired, and makes the car stand-out from the others...
I think it's because I really like the stock hindquarters!
Still evaluating fender flares/wide body... But I don't think I wish to change to wider wheels, etc...
I WILL look into the fuel cross-over also... Heard 04's had a lot of issues??
