It's just my personal opinion but, What are you people saving your cars for? I personally didn't spend $50K for something to look at. That's what magazines/interweb are for.
There are no luggage racks on a hearse. You can't take this stuff with you when you die.
I for one, like to enjoy the "fruits of my labor" while I'm still here. I'm not saving it for the "Fruits of my loins" (kids) either.
Folks are always trying to tell others what to do... I'm not saving my car. I'm enjoying it in many ways.
How about I come over and drive YOUR car? After all, it is meant to be driven and I don't have to worry about cleaning it when I bring it back to you. LOL
In fact, put a light coat of wax on your windshield, you won't even have to turn them wipers on, the angle and the wind just rolls the rain drops off by themself..
I might try that since I removed my windshield wipers several years ago.
Zaino Clearview is an excellent product for the windshield. It also causes the rain to roll off, but it also cleans the water spots, and mineral deposits while adding some UV protection.

to infinity. I understand that alot of you have put some serious money into your cars. I get that. I myself have put in just lil over 5g's (soon to be 7g's) and for those whove crossed into 5 digit modification territory, i can only imagine the way you feel. Of course if youve spent the entire afternoon detailing and waxing your not just gonna(if you can really help it) hop and cruise in a monsoon. Lets face it, its hard work. That being said. Its still a machine. It WILL tear up eventually. Again Bluefire said it best. Most of you guys have familys and id HOPE that they come first in life. I love my corvette like the rest of the enthusiast, however its STILL a car and was built to be driven. Alot of you guys have some age over me (25 bought the Z at 22) and id like to think you guys are enjoying the cars youve bought and dreamed of. Your not promised tomorrow. DRIVE IT!!!!
Hey this really happened once. I went to a car show in South Florida where it almost always rains, and this guy went ballistic cause his car got wet. Anyway what he did, he wipes it off then calls a slide truck to carry it home cause he ain't gunna' drive it on no wet roads.
I love when people tell me their car has never seen rain. I'm like "So you don't wash it?"
It's just a car, have fun with it. If my life is reduced to worrying about the weather for my car, I might as well die.
Kinda goes back to what was already posted. It's not that it gets wet, it's DRIVING in the wet that makes a difference.
A quick look at the hood liner is the best explanation I can give you.
It can sit out in the rain for days & never be wet. Drive it down the highway 1 mile in the rain, then open the hood and take a look.
