Ok, so I pride myself in not driving my vette in the rain unless I should get caught in a storm somewhere - Although not necessary, I am fairly religious about this and proud of the fact that my 89K mile car looks close to showroom.
So... my tahoe is in the shop, my wife is at work, and I work from home.
Do I stay confined to my house today, or take her out to run a few errands hit the gym etc?
just interested to see if anyone else struggles with these situations.....
Its not so much the rain - - its the detail work that follows!!!!
i agree, if its sitting in the driveway and it rains, no big deal, it gets that when u wash it anyways, but driving in it is another story.... im picky like that myself, thats why there is another vehicle in the driveway!
I stay home or call one of my kids to come pick me up! Honestly, it is a pain to clean under the car and polish the wheel wells and inside the rims. I avoid it when ever I can.
Radar not good, I just waxed the vette this past weekend, and my daily driver is having the wheel bearings replaced... the vette looks too comfy in the garage right now so....Looks like I am stranded.
Chevy so mistreats brand new Corvettes as they roll off the assembly line. First they douse them in water looking for leaks and without drying run them outside, often times to sit in the rain or snow, until such time they are scheduled to be transported to a dealer where they often sit outside in all kinds of weather for what could be months on end.
Personally, I love driving my Vette in the rain, it's such a stable safe vehicle and it handles so well. Being a daily driver, mine never seems to show any damage caused by rain or wind or wind driven rain. Seems like it stays near new condition even after that punishment and being meticulous about cleaning it.
Engine picture after 55K of daily driving in Florida:
This what it looks like in the cubby holes around the transmission... all that gawd awful rain has made it a mess, I should be ashamed for not cleaning under there:
And it just never seems to shine like new again:
I'm obviously giving the OP a difficult time...all in jest.
I typically cruise for fun with dry roads . However if my car isnt clean or just washed I would take it out even with a chance of rain just give a good cleaning the next time I wash... I would not take it out in the rain after a good cleaning though I put a lot of work into getting it nice and shiny

AHAHAH - Too funny! Your engine bay actually looks better than mine. If I hadn't detailed her this weekend, I would probably be out in her right now... instead, I am the boy in the bubble looking outside wondering what it is like in that cold wet mess...
I vote "yes" for driving in the rain, however I vote "no" for parking in a gym parking lot. Something about those places bring out the worst in parkers...
I live in Oregon........if I never drove my Vette in the rain it would get almost no use. I bought it to DRIVE not to sit under a cover all it's life. So YES, drive it in the rain!
I don't don't take my freshly washed and waxed coupe out in the rain if not necessary, but if I've got an appointment I drive it fearlessly. It's a car. they go out in all kinds of weather.
