After owning 10 or so vettes over the years I just got my first vert. Coming back up the hill from Phx the other day with the top down my wife urged me to raise the windows for the usual reasons. When I protested that I didn't want to be called gay by a homotopophobic vettenetter that may be on the road or shot with some pellet gun she said, huh?
Well I'm kinda stuck being half "window gay", the drivers glass won't retract. Is being half gay better than full on. The top does go down but how 'bout the driver. Now you got me wondering about Vert owners
I don't think you can be half gay, if you're even just a little gay, you're still gay.
Sorry....I hate to see when others do this but......Nice inclusive comment......I wonder how many Gay and Lesbian members we have on the Forum who would find this offensive.
Okay.....off my soap box....seriously, doesn't bother me and goes back to personal preference. I believe some do it to keep the wind noise down....but whatever. It's not our car so in the final analysis.....really who does care.
It's GAY! Plain and simple... I have a convertible c6 and I wouldn't be caught dead in it like that... If you call me and I answer and it's too loud, then I'll call you back when I find a safe place to pull over... I'm not the smartest man in the world but I know a sin when I see one, and windows up is a sin to the car gods!!!
Can't wait to see what he says to the wife when she puts her window up while he's driving. Besides, you say Gay like its a bad thing......well, its just a thing, not my thing, but just a thing, kinda like being short instead of tall, or round instead of svelte, or rich instead of poor, or....
I don't really do it, but there are times when the woman wants them up.
Honestly, I think there is a sense of freedom having the top down, but less air turbulence when the windows are up. Also, if you're driving on a long trip and it gets cold quickly, it is nice to just roll the windows up and turn on the heat until you can stop to put the top up.
In general though, if the top is down, so are the windows.
a friend does it to keep his hearing aids from blowing out....
It cost him $2,000 to replace it the first time it happened...
So if you see him please don't call him gay or shoot him with your pellet gun replacing the aids take away from his mod money....
Its freedom to have the windows down and i like that the most sometimes it gets to cold here in Sweden where i live to drive with the windows down above 60 mph and then i drive with the windows up, top down. Couldnt imagine some people would get so upset by this topic... its just windows..

Here is a better one for you, I dont do that either, if tops down so are the windows, I work with a guy with a 2000 z28 camaro, and he will get in it after work and pull his shirt off and pull out just the t-top on his side, Now that is extreme GAY, he gets a rash of @#!$% the next day from everybody but it doesnt do any good, What a Goob.
It says to me that my car was in the shop and the convertible was the only way for me to get the kids to soccer practice. They insisted on putting the top down, but I'm really not a Corvette Convertible type, so the tp down/windows up was a compromise.
But if you truly don't care what td/wu says about your manlyness, then raise those windows. And don't get a chill.

When did we become a world of people that are so concerned about offending people. If you're GAY and proud of it, why would you take offence. If someone calls me something I am, it doesn't offend me, it's me. If it's not nice, it doesn't really matter, it's still me. The problem with trying to never offend is that you create a false sense of reality. You should just speak the truth and be proud of it.
BTW, if you haven't noticed, nobody has come out HATING gays, it's a slang term that means girlish or sissified. GAY is the perfect word for that.
I just realized that I misread this the first time, I thought you said top up windows down, not top down windows up. Here in Florida we make fun of people for doing that all the time, usually they are tourists here in the winter riding with the top down when it's not really top down weather, I know a lot of people say "to each his own" but to me, I think it's GAY
I don't even understand this comment.. so tourists are gay?
looked to me like you called tourists, desperate to feel like it's summer when visiting from colder climates, gay. I personally only put up the windows temporarily to take the occasional phone call. How about those that enjoy the feel of the sun but don't want the associated noise and wind, they gay too?
