With heartfelt apologies and condolences offered to the families of the victims, I add sarcasm, (to make a point about the madness,) to the text of The Second Amendment of the US Constitution:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, and to use such arms to kill innocent little six and seven year old First Graders, shall not be infringed.
Knowing that many forum members belong to the NRA, (as I did years ago, while I owned, and still own firearms myself,) I once again don my fireproof suit.

Prayers for the victims and their families. But however horrible this is (and it IS), it will be used. New gun regulations are coming-bank on it.

Sandy Hook is about an hours drive from me, and I have relatives over there. They are fine, and our prayers and hearts go out to all the families.

As well as being a corvette owner, I am also a longtime gun owner, and NRA certified instructor as well, and we here in CT already have some of the toughest gun purchase reqirements in the nation, But no legislation is going to prevent a sick minded indivdual from doing these unthinkable deeds.

More legislation will not help. This sick individual took weapons from his mother; what was a mother doing with two 9mm, an assault rifle and one more long gun? If she bought them legally, what law would stop this guy from using them? Unfortunately, it is our society of video games that so many of our young people play for hours that for those with mental problems think that shooting anyone is not permanent. You just press reset. And if in the moment reality sets in to what they really have done, they see no way out except suicide. Gun control? We are so far behind the curve on gun control that it is not a worthwhile direction to take. And I for one will not give up his weapons nor should anyone who has secured them legally. Better to put enough money on the table to conduct mental health reviews of our Jr/Sr kid in HS and again in college to help predict meltdowns. How about a similar checkup in each decade of life? That's right, if you are thinking federally mandated mental healthcare administered by each state. We must take a stand.

Read this on another website and thought it might be appropriate here.

It's so easy to say, "My heart/prayers goes out." How about this: Here's the address for Sandy Hook Elementary School: 12 Dickenson Drive, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.

Take five minutes. Sit down with your kid. Write a letter. Draw a picture. Make a card. Send it to them. Tell them you're praying for them. Tell them you're so sorry they're hurting. Tell them you love them. Don't just say you love them on Facebook. LOVE them for real. ... Make your love tangible.

Pretty good advice I think. Think I'll be doing it as well....

Getting rid of guns isn’t the answer, maybe if the prinicipal who ran to face the gunman had a permit to carry a gun things might of turned out different.

China had a sick SOB kill 18 kids with a knife. Just a short while ago the son of a teacher went into his Dad’s classroom, shot him with an arrow. I guess the next step is ban knives, and bow and arrows?

Sick people will do sick things no matter how many laws are passed. If you think kids being killed in school is something new in this country google Michigan school bombing 1927. That bomb killed 38 kids.

Condolences to the family's, I am father of three grown children, one is a grammar school teacher, I can not fathom the hurt and sorrow these parents are feeling, something that will be with them the rest of their lives.
As far as the crime, to slaughter babies is unimaginable beyond description, but we must do something to control the flow of firearms in this country, this and numerous incidents in months and years past have proven this fact out.
I will say no more, but I morn the death of these 26 innocents and dam the killers to eternal damnation.

I have a seven year old little girl, and my heart goes out to the families of this tragic senseless crime that has taken place. True advocate of guns here....Taking guns away or more legislation is not what we need as a society. We need people to pay attention to other individuals actions and take them very serious, reporting such things to the proper authorities. It appears an on-duty police officer is essential at every school in America....This would ease my mind when paying taxes! Put our tax money to real use Mr. President and Congress. Do what you have been elected to do, Protect the people.

What gets me is the chicken-**** morons who do things like this and then shoot themselves in the head.

"Hey, look at me! I can get away with murder and not suffer any consequences! What a coup de gras to my miserable life."

The core problem is a Godless and God free society that has become over exposed and desensiitized to violence from games and TV/movies and just the world in general. It is a problem that is generations in the making.

I believe in the Second Ammendment for the most part. But, who needs an automatic assault rifle for protection? No one. There are certain weapons that should only be owned by the military and law enforcement, so I do believe stricter regulation is coming, and should, without infringing on our Second Ammendment rights.

The bigger issue is how we identify and reach out to individuals who are mentally ill. We need to worry less about political correctness and get to these individuals and do something about them. How that is done, that is for someone smarter than I to figure out.

This pisses me off also. It also pisses me off when the media continually shout out their name like some sick celebrity.

The first step in solving this problem should be a ban on identifying the individual who committed the atrocity to anyone but the victims families.

This is so sad and breaks my heart. I have two daughters, and four granddaughters. It would kill me if they fell victim to something like this.
But I am reminded that other countries have car bombings, war, and war lords that do these things on a routine basis. It is the inherit evil that runs out there.

As bad as it is, I am thankful that we have people who rush into harms way to protect and help others in these types of situations. Look at the incredible job those teachers did in that school to protect as many kids as they possibly could, the law enforcement and paramedics who have to deal with the situation, and others who through everything they have into helping in any way they can. It is to bad that it takes something like this to bring people together. If we had had this type of mindset all along, perhaps we would not be dealing with these types of situations. God Bless them all in the coming weeks!!!!!!!!!

An AR-15, or one of its many clones IS NOT an assault weapon. It is merely a semi-automatic rifle that RESEMBLES an assault weapon. An assault weapon (M-16, M-4, AK-47, etc.) is a select fire weapon-meaning safe/semi or burst/full auto. It is illegal for a U.S. citizen to own a fully automatic (called Class III) weapon unless you jump through a lot of hoops to comply with the (IIRC) 1934 Gun Control Act. The press, in it's drumbeat to ban these TYPES of guns, calls them assault weapons-they're not. FWIW.

You are correct. Thanks for the clarification.

IMO, these are also more firepower than any private citizen needs.

My prayers for parents and those kids for what happened ...From all this we can learn that will try to take or put control on the guns or other weapons but that is not going to do much ... The problem here is in ourselves as parents we are responsible for our children 100% how we teach them How much are we involve with our kids ?,what they are playing? such as video games or other and how we set example in our everyday life's we should raise them not the street or babysitors ...
