Fronts came in today. 18x9.5. Rears are on back order. Hopefully they come in before I get back from my deployment. Stuff is starting to pile up! So far its Exhaust, Shocks, Lowering Kit, Tires and front wheels. Waiting on rear wheels, decals, and my short shift/box/****.
Also, on a side note, I saw that CorvetteGarage was offering a deal on the emblems for the center caps since they ordered way too many, so they had them on sale. I picked up a bunch, and will be throwing them on most likely.

Enjoying your enthusiasm. I remember buying my first Z06. It was red/mod red 15k miles. I traveled from Colorado to Georgia to get it. It was a beautiful 15k mile car I purchased from a forum member.
My son bought himself a 95 6 speed car when he went in the Corps. He got to drive it a couple of times before he had to go. He bought it with 34k miles on it and now has 70k miles on it. He still loves it as much as he did 5 years ago. He does have the itch for a Z06 though since he gets to drive mine sometimes.
You be careful over there and come back in one piece so you can enjoy your well deserved new toy. And when you do start driving it, give it some respect at first,,, the car will put you in a ditch very quickly if youre not careful!!
nice! I did the exact same thing while deployed. had my dad take a 400 mile trip to look at the car. he gave it the green light and told him to buy it and bring it back up to Dallas.
I've heard that in some turns, people complain about not feeling like the seat holds them in place enough, but I'll have to see what I think. It's gonna sound cheesy, but I've always wanted leather interior, but always get stuck with cloth, so I think I'm gonna enjoy the leather for a little while. I can't wait to get back though, and go ahead and start throwing everything on it.
it does man, I know when i was driving from Ca to Tx the lower part of my back was killing me. I replaced mine with A4's leather and love them. while I was AutoXing another guy drove my car to feel it out (his is completely stock) the first thing he mentioned was how well the seats felt.
Yeah, I was totally about to ask if you were talking about Audi seats, hahaha. Good thing I love searching. And now yeah, I won't be surprised if I don't look into a set. It'll be a while I'm sure. I haven't even driven the car yet. On top of that, my buddy who picked the car up for me is replacing me on my deployment, and when he gets back, he's getting a Terminator Cobra. So I pretty much have about six months to start saving for a few more mods so I don't get my *** whipped, hahahaha. But I'll have to find someone in my local area who has a set and sit in em. Thanks for the heads up.
yup really look into them. I drove 2600 miles in those 8 days on the stock seats and it was TERRIBLE lol. there is no lumbar support and I felt it. what purpose are you building the car for? twisties, straights, well rounded? I will say that these cars are great in the twisties in stock form and have more than enough power for a good amount of people.
My buddy (who's getting the Terminator) used to have an 01 Cobra, and he lowered it, and said that thing was GLUED to the road. While we were in tech school, he had it taken to a shop that deals with nothing but high performance cars, and the owner admitted to taking the car out and getting on it a little (was checking for clutch issues) and said that his car was one of the best handling cars he'd driven. Now, he took the Vette for a ride when he picked it up, and he said the power was absolutely insane. He said the only thing he was disappointed in was how it handled the curves back home. He hit a few turns that he used to rip up in his Cobra, and said it handled great, but didn't feel like it was glued. I'm hoping that maybe by throwing wider wheels/tires on it, along with the Bilsten shocks and lowering it a little, that may take care of it. But from what I'm reading, a lot of people feel like the car handles worlds better when they're solid in that seat. Maybe that is what he was feeling.
But as for what the car is for, we'll see, hahahaha. I bought it to enjoy it, so I'm gonna drive it. I'm not afraid of putting miles on it (I put 22k miles on my GTI in 9 months, mostly highway though driving back and forth between D.C. and Ohio). I want it to be a fun car to be driven in ideally nice conditions. But it isn't going to be one of those "I'm not taking it out in the evenings on the back roads because I don't want to clean bugs off it" or "I'm not taking long trips because I don't want to ruin the paint" kinds of cars.
I figure I'll get used to it this summer/fall, and maybe throw on some headers for sure this winter, and more likely than not, a cam/intake/throttle body/tune also. When I start seeing my buddies tail lights more than I can handle, I won't be surprised if I don't look into a supercharger down the road. I think for now, straights/well rounded is what I'll be looking for until I can drop the $$$ on real suspension parts.
I have no plans on selling the car any time, so I'm going to enjoy it expecting to have many miles racked up in the seat. We'll see where things go. But trust me, I'm getting pretty antsy to get back and drive the car. Not too much longer before I'm out of here. In the mean time, I'll see how much I can drive myself crazy looking at parts and researching.
maybe all you need really is some new tires? dont know the condition or age of them but may want to take a look into that.
i'm pretty sure that when they were taking the turns, the seats were not holding them in place and they were having to hang on to the steering wheel to keep from being thrown around in the car.
I feel ya, and I told him the seats are notorious for basically sucking when it comes to feeling snug. But yeah, the right rear wheel has a small ding from being curbed or something (pot hole I'm assuming) which is the reason I already got new wheels/tires waiting. Gonna have 19x11's with 305's on em in the back, and 18x9.5's with 275's on the fronts. Hopefully that'll take care of it. If not, maybe the lowering along with fresh solid shocks will do the job.
Winding down my deployment. Went out to the city nearest where I'm deployed and went to the Children's Cancer Center. Brought toys, fruit and candy, then played with the kids. Had a blast. I'm ready to get back and get in the Vette, but stuff like this makes me enjoy my time here. Just felt like posting though, hahaha

First, I have enjoyed this thread, looks like you found a great car and have a great friend helping you out, and some awesome mods on the way!
I am eons away from ever owning a C5Z, but have been doing tons of research(never hurts, right) and while S/C is popular, some have mentioned that a N/A LS7 swap seemed to be better than S/C the LS6. Obviously the 7 swap would cost a whole lot more with more down time, but is that something you would consider?
