Nothing is out of the question. Luckily, I have my GTI as my DD, and it's gonna paid off here soon, and I did that purposefully so when I got my toy, I could afford down time if need be. I think for the most part, how my buddies Cobra is will influence where the Corvette ends up in the long run. Can't let my buddy be the best, hahaha
Nice choice of deployment gift. I did the same thing in 2011. Did heads/cam/intake and the car is a monster now. You will love it when you get home to it,
I hope do throw in a cam this winter, and have been researching a lot lately. I want it to be streetable, and the traffic in DC and the surrounding area is horrible, so I gotta be careful with what route I go. I was debating on swapping valve springs when I get back, just to be sure, but I figure if I am gonna do a cam this winter, I'll take the risk and wait. Counting down the days.
Yeah, I've seen that it hasn't been taken down. The views keep going up. Hope nobody runs the CarFax and wastes their money on it. I was able to talk him down a little, and it's way cleaner in person I guess. The only real thing was the rear passenger wheel was a little dented from a pothole or something. That's why I had to get new wheels right away. Pretty sure you can tell in this pic.
I can see the bent rim in the pic. I have family near Dayton (Brookeville/Yellow Springs) and was going to have them check out the car. It was in my price range and 54K is not too many miles for that year. Enjoy!
Ahhh, bummer man! Sorry to grab it before you, but not THAT sorry, hahaha. Yeah, it's been up for a while, and I thought it sold, and after I deployed, I started shopping for the hell of it, saw it again, and had a friend check it out. Gave me the green light and I picked it up. Hopefully I'll get to spend my R&R putting everything on. I just hope the back wheels show up before I get back.
Not much of an update. Spoke with Factory Reproductions and they said they got a shipment of wheels in my size that should be in hopefully in the next couple weeks. I bought through CorvetteWheels.com, so hopefully my rears are a part of that order. I have refrained from spending more money on the Vette, but just barely. I almost bought Corbeau seats the other day, but decided to hold off until I get a chance to sit in a set. So anyone in the Dayton Ohio area or around Washington DC with a set, hit me up so I can sit in yours! I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a set though.
On a side not, my motorcycle is about to be repainted and repaired (from an accident I had a couple years ago while in Germany). It's going to be blue again, but I was half tempted to have it painted to match the Vette, hahaha. I'm gonna pay off my DD next month too, so I'm proud of that also.
Less than a week before I wrap up this deployment and head back to the good ol U S of A. Nothing makes you appreciate America more than traveling outside America. I'm sure I'll be posting constantly when I get back and start tinkering with the car and actually driving it. Can't wait.

Same here, down to the location and year. I'm pretty sure I saw the car you bought when I was shopping for mine haha. That wouldn't normally mean much, but there weren't a lot of C5Zs when I was shopping in 03/11.
Winding down my deployment. Went out to the city nearest where I'm deployed and went to the Children's Cancer Center. Brought toys, fruit and candy, then played with the kids. Had a blast. I'm ready to get back and get in the Vette, but stuff like this makes me enjoy my time here. Just felt like posting though, hahaha
MonolithMonolith you are a Superhero, god bless you!
Passed through Germany on the way home, at Ramstein AB. It was nice swinging through since I was stationed there for two years.
But what REALLY got me excited to be back was picking up my GTI.
It was soooo nice driving a stick again, and hell, driving over 15 mph. I will be picking up the Vette next week, and I'll be driving it the whole time I'm home on R&R and on leave. I can't wait. As my buddy put it "Well, at least now you'll be in the same country as your Corvette." Til then, I'll be finally getting to look at all the stuff I bought so far, hahaha. My rear wheels should be shipping soon, so hopefully those come in. In the mean time, I'll be doing routine MX to the GTI and my motorcycle so they're ready to go. Maaaan, it's nice being home again.
Best part so far: Showering barefoot again. I HATE shower shoes.
I went through Leipzig on my way home and a **** hole that looked like it hadn't seen life since WWII on my way over. They stuck us in a fenced in area while they refueled the aircraft then we started to wonder if it was an old concentration camp.
