They look at me like I'm out of sync when I drive by in my C5 - which I am. I've asked a few about their trucks and they say they are just trying to be Texans.
Really curious about their other opinions of Texas though. They complain about the heat (this time of the year the temperaturs are mostly measured in triple digits), how dry it is, all the bugs, etc. The next thing they say starts with, "back home...." then rave about all the great things they left there.
I wonder if driving a truck is the only thing they like about living here - not about to ask about the dog paintings.
P. S. I'm a native Texan in case you haven't guessed.
You almost need a truck in Hawaii cause the roads are so bad. I hate driving my Z on the main highways here cause it feels like you are going off-loading. Plus, I plan on buying a boat within the next year, which is why I have one.
However, when I need to haul 4X8 sheets of plywood, 50 inch TVs or furniture, I just put the top down on my 1936 Packard convertible sedan and load it up. The people at the lumber store think I am a bit off.
But I heard a few say that they would rather have a truck. Of course I have one of those two.
Most people in Hotlanta, like Vettes, Lambo, Ferraris, McClarens, Jags, Porsches, Lotus, etc.
However, most of the population drive SADs. In fact in Atlanta, 65% of the privately owned vehicles on the road are big a** trucks or SADs(Slow and Dangerous). Some people call SADs SUVs, but travel along side or behind one and you will see they are SADs!!!
One of each, but the '04 Colorado blew a head gasket at 140K. Bought it used, not knowing that's what they do at 140K. My fault, I didn't do the proper research for problem areas. It needs a new head, or an LS swap
I think I'll ditch the Colorado and get a Legacy Outback.
Please tell me you didn't use that little Colorado to pull that trailer...
When I started saving for my corvette my Sister told me I needed to buy a truck, that men are supposed to have trucks.
The other day I was talking to a girl and she told me I should get rid of the vette and purchase a truck or jeep.
I think This has a lot to do with living in the south.
I don't care what people think I love this car and that is all that matters to me. Just curious if anybody else has heard the same from people.
(Little update 1 year later I now own a truck.)
I drove trucks for years, I'm old now and can't lift anything so I don't need one.
