Default C5 vs C7

As much as the C5 is a PITA with its issues, I would take it over a 2014 C7 any day. We like to look at the newest model with awe because so many think newer means better. In this case its the farthest from the truth.

Take a look at the C7 forum. They have a section for problems related to the C7. Mods restrict posting to the oh so fortunate owners like they are the **** but in reality the C7 is crap. Wer know our C5s have issues but the C7 is a $70,000 car with more problems than a Yugo. From DICs that are mafunctioning and shorts in the various control units to misaligned cameras, loose body panels, misaligned hoods and torn headliners. Lets show some love to our cars because you could be driving a C7 and feeling very ripped off by GM.

First-year buyers are the guinea pigs who get to find all the flaws that are corrected in later models. No thanks.

I really thought about the C7, seeing how I was going to drop 20K in mods into my C5. When it came down to it I really couldn't find anything compelling, other than the awesome motor, and cool electronics, to buy the C7. IMHO, its just a fancy C5 and the C5 has an iconic body. I still get people rubber necking and wanting to talk cars with me when they see it.

The C7 will be in my garage one day but its just not going to break me away from the old wife my C5.

Went for a drive today with the wife. I had three people give me the thumbs up . That made my day. I will have a C7 one day but not now. My son will get my C5 vert one day , he is 12 years old if he wants it . I am in no hurry. I love the way the C7 looks

If it was in the budget the C5 would be gone and a C7 in the garage.

I love my C5Z and will keep it forever, but, the C7 is an exceptional performance bargain. They are selling thousands of them and only a handfull with problems. If you've ever seen one in person, sat in it and/or driven it, you would not think it was such a bad car.

All new models experience bugs of some kind and the C7 is no exception. Plus, with all the new electronics and infotainment systems readily available in today's new cars, the chance for problems increase.

I've never been one of the "first to have it" kind of guys as I'd rather wait until the bugs have been fixed, plus it gives me time to feel out the car and compare options, etc.

Plus, what will make a C7Z even better?

...My C5 vert parked next to it in my garage!

Love the C7 but wouldn't buy it in it's first year. I would wait for a ZO6 version in a couple of years. Since I can't afford that, I'll just keep my '99 FRC.

You got that right. I would love to have a C7 and perhaps in a couple of years I will. Yes the C7 is having some problems with the initial production run, and hopefully they will be solved soon.

A bit like comparing a C5 to a C3. Although I owned (and enjoyed) two C3s...two generations apart makes it difficult for me to compare them.
