No!! you are never too old. As a matter of fact, you are only as old as the person you feel. Late last fall, I blew a Porsche full of teenagers in the dust -- all they saw was taillights. I am 81 and looking forward to a C7.

I bought my first Corvette when I was 18 (a 65 coupe) and I've had one ever since. I've owned 15 Corvettes the last 48 years, so I guess that means my mid life crisis started when I was 18 and is still crisis-ing.

Keep the vette!
So I was watching Top Gear and the subject was "mid life crises" and my wife just laugh. One of the cars was a C-4 (red of course) and the other two was a hot rod and a yellow Porsche.
My question is am I going through a mid life crises?
I've owned my C-5 for 11 years now (I'm 58) and back in 76 I had a 74 for about 6 years until life kicked in the I had to sell it to get something a bit more practical. I went without a Vette for sometime until the kids grew up. I knew that one day I was going to get another because "once a Vette owner, always a Vette owner", right?
Anyway I need some support from you guys. Should I keep her or is it time to sell?
My question is am I going through a mid life crises?

I'm 61 and love my 99 FRC. What's more, my girlfriend and I have been having a great time with all the new friends we've made though our owners group. I'll give up my Corvette and my Harley when they pry them from my cold dead hands. Looking forward to a C7 sometime down the road. Corvettes forever!

I got my first Vette when I was 38 and was told then I was going through a mid life crisis. I mentioned that I had always been a car guy but they didn't understand that. I sold it 9 years later when I bought my '98 Pace Car. I love the car. If I don't drive it at least once a week I get withdrawal symptons. I'm 53 now and have now intention of being without a Vette.
So my reply to the original thread is ' do what you yourself want to do' If you like driving the car, if it gives you a thrill that nothing else matches, then keep it. Otherwise you will always be looking for that again.
And I agree with the majority of the answers. You are only too old if you yourself think you are. Not anybody else. Think about and consider others, but live for you.

Mid Life Crisis...........that is something made up by women to explain what they perceive as embarrassing behavior by their man. Women use this term when they don't want to use the truth or when they simply don't understand. They will use it to not only explain the behavior to others, but to themselves.
When a man is unfaithful after many years of marriage a woman will tell herself it's a mid life crisis and he won't do it again. It's a lot easier to accept than the truth. The truth being he found the hotty down the road more desirable than her.
Most women and a lot of men don't understand why an older man would want a fast flashy car. In their mind fast flashy cars are associated with young guys. So they use the mid life crisis to explain to themselves why an old guy likes fast cars.
I have lifelong friends that have never owned a performance car of any kind. They never questioned why I had a big block 4 speed car when I was a teenager. They never questioned why I bought a new Trans Am when I was 22. I buy a Corvette when I'm in my 50s and I'm having a mid life crisis. Simple truth is I've always been a car person. It's something they just don't get.

Suthunman,donwil,I have been the subject of the idiotic mid-life crisis thingie too.Im 55,ive had a GTO,442 ,couple camaro's, a trans am',a monte-carlo ss,and this is my second vett.This time however, its crm G.S.Nobody seemed to notice my silver c5 I had for 8 years. When they see this shiny red vette now I hear the stupid mid lfe crisis b.s..No mid life crisis,still love my wife of nearly 20 years,have no intention of trading her in,Just livin the dream man

I too have had a 69 goat,a 68 442, a 2001 camaro Z28 and a 2002 trans am WS6, 81 vette, and now an 05 Z51 in DSOM. I have always loved sharp cars. People in my own family have said " some people like cars and some like houses." Well, I cant afford a 200K house, but a 25K car I can. Keep livin the dream my brother and find good moments where you can. Life is temporary. Peace.
