Updates On Grape Ape

When I saw it in the sanding process, all torn apart, with the windows down, I almost had a heart attack! I don’t think I could take that!

It has to have been a stomach churning process, but you’re almost to the finish line.
Just like in my experiences, there’s always mission creep, unforeseen issues that arise, and delays.
Mine has been gone from home since Nov. 5th and I’m really beginning to miss it too, but it is in a laboratory clean detail shop sitting on a lift with no wheels. I should have my wheels back in a couple of weeks, and will hopefully have it back home by, if not before the first of the year.
You are putting the ACI splitter back on, right?
I subscribed to your YouTube channel and gave you a thumbs up.
Best wishes brother
I have been following your posts for a long time as have many others have been doing, i am sure.
You are one of my favorites here...you make great videos and share a lot of wonderful things involving your Corvette life. You are a true Corvette enthusiast and you have done a fantastic job with Grape Ape...
Larry is also a favorite of mine...he and his Vette give me goose bumps...

He is always doing something to his Vette in a great way.
Lastly, as far as i can see, the only thing i could possibly suggest that you do to your beautiful Grape Ape is to get one of these .......even if you do not have a blower that needs the hood room..no matter how you do it....but you won't be getting Larry's because he would chop off his arm before he got rid of his and i can agree with him on that one...see below...
Here's the cherry on top of the whip cream Mark...

Your Corvette looks amazing. It was hard to see Grape all scuffed up and dirty but you have him back to Concours condition.
Hope you get Mini Grape done in time for Christmas.

It always kind of ominous when you see your pride and joy with wet sanding dull paint and sanding water all over the place lol.

Thank you, he's getting there. Hopefully real soon.

Appreciate the subscription, Larry. It was really hard to see what I did to him when he was being worked on. There was more than a day or 2 that I questioned if I did the right thing or not. I still think about that today too. Mostly because I can't see it in my garage yet. That will change soon I hope. I am going back on with the ACI splitter. It won't be back on until I figure out the rear spoiler though. Doesn't look right by itself. I'm anxious to see how your wheels turn out. The only reason I don't do the polished wheels myself is the work it takes to keep them like you do. If you like them when you're done I may ask you for the name of the place that did them and get the wheels I've been wanting for a while now.

Thanks again everyone. Car shows probably won't be happening anytime until after the new year but I'll try and get in 1 or 2. Hopefully Grape will be show worthy by then.

...as for the MCM...bought one 4 years ago and had it painted...on my C5 now...there is no other CF hood or any other hood out there that fits as well...took 15 mins to get on and 0 adjustments...

I got this one a year later and it is in my Corvette mancave with lots of other C5 related parts...
Gonna sell it for the right $$$...

There's lots of them out there for the RIGHT $$$....
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I looked for 10 years before i finally figured out that i couldn't not find one cheap (dumber than a stump) then i said F it and went overboard...
...life is too short...i could have bought a used C5 for what i paid for the first one...
...anyhooo...shoulda ,woulda coulda...bla bla bla...i keep making the same mistakes over and over and over...

You put so much meticulous work into the car. A labor of love to be sure. I enjoy catching the updates, as well as the mild humor a la walking into the door when going to the garage. 😁
As much as i like you Mike, you have a C6...IT FITS A C5...What would you do, put it in YOUR mancave ???...and even if you had a C5, NO WAY IN HELL ...BUDDY
...Christmas present my azz...

I would install it on my future C5.or sell it for a huge profit. The MCM hood is the best hood made for the C5 and C6.
This year I asked Santa for one of these for my C6 MCM Motor City Mold Carbon Fiber Hood C6 Corvette (vettenuts.net)

I call my car Grape Ape because of the color. Think it fits. Anyway, instead of hy-jacking his thread on "What's In SANTA's Bag", I would start my own thread and see what you all think. I know some if not most will not like some of the things I have done to him but that's okay. It's my car, my tastes and I like it.
So here goes.
This has all been in the last year or so.
Added a rear spoiler again after a guy around here stole my other one. Long story so I won't get into it here.
Added a front ACI splitter that scrapes everywhere pretty much.
This was taken at an all Corvette show in the spring. The door hinges were put on a few years ago. I used the Dream Car Custom hinges so I could reverse it and have the door panels intact if I decide some day to take them off. Just showing the front splitter. This is the picture some if not most will not like.
Here's a shot of the engine bay with some of Pat's handy work in it.
Added purple (black lights) to the interior. Looks very cool I think. Useless if you drop something at night though.
Also added the LED's to the dash and doors. Went with the white so I could read the words.
Front and rear chrome emblems. Had to put the front one through a roller at work to get the contour to match somewhat with the bumper.
Super bright LED reverse lights.
Halo LED's with Radioflyers sequencing mod. Get a lot of questions and compliments on those.
Put some black reflective tape on the red reflectors on the doors. I like the blacked look. There's a thread in here that gave me the idea. Thanks Biomech011.....
Link is here: Black Door Reflectors
Shot of the console Pat did for me before I installed the single DIN DVD player.
Dash Cluster Pat did as well. I took the steering wheel cover off so don't worry, it's gone.
Also added a single din DVD from Sound Stream. Works for now until I can afford the double din. Pardon the finger prints.
And last but not least, my brother stopped by for a visit on Halloween night. Scared the crap out of me when I went to the garage for a beer. Well, not really because I don't have a brother and I don't drink. I was just walking around the neighborhood scaring the kids.
So there it is in a nut shell. I try to do all the work myself so I can learn the car and know how things are put together.
