Got a great deal from a forum member on a like new set of 04 Z06 shocks. Mine were original and had 103k on them. I installed them last night and today and am very happy with the way the car rides now.
While I was working I decided to try and fix the squeak coming from my swaybar bushings. I have read several different ways to try and correct it so I tried a twofold approach. I wrapped the bar in Teflon tape and then greased the bushings and the bar. So far it seems to have worked.
Also while I was at it I decided to remove the rear fender liners. I cleaned and scrubbed them and then I put several layers of undercoating on the backside and then insulated it to help with noise coming from the tires. I also painted the inside of the liners and so far it looks really good. Time will tell how long that will hold up. The amount of dirt that I swept off of the rocker panels after removing the liner was incredible.
All in all a good couple of days and good mods for the car.
Neat idea insulating the liners. Is there a noticeable difference in cabin noise? I saw the same thing when I had my driver rear liner out recently--couldn't believe how much crap was sitting on that rocker panel.
You may as well install SS brake lines if you're going to replace the rotors. You'll have 90% of the work done anyway
I've been spending enough of my own money, just thought I'd pop in here and help you spend some of yours
Installed a set of pads/rotors from Brakemotive. Looks good. They sent the wrong front pads so for now I'm rolling on the old pads until they make it right.
High Five! Looks good, sucks about the wrong pads though. I'm sure they'll make it right. Looks way better than the factory rotors that's for sure. Were your rear pads as shot as mine were?
If you want the Corvette letters to stand out more on your calipers just take a razor and carefully scrap the paint off then hit with some fine sand paper for a extra shiny finish. Just a suggestion.
Got a steal of a deal on a 90mm ported/polished throttle body by Atlanta Performance and Fabrication. Only $70 and I still have my stock one to sell. The little lip where you run the coolant lines was broken off so I ended up doing the throttle body bypass mod without really meaning to. I do notice the car seems to be a little snappier with throttle response and maybe a little quicker. Who knows it could be the placebo effect. For the money I could not pass it up.
