Oh and here is the wheel out of the box. I was torn between two different ones but ended up going with the momo jet I like the traditional look of the wheel but I really like the real carbon fiber accents on the raised thumb areas, carbon fiber horn button surround, and the flat black (as opposed to glossy) horn button.

Thanks, I'm hoping so... I was torn between this one and the Momo Nero. This one is a little racier looking but that Nero is a sweet classy looking wheel... Maybe too classy for me lol

Looks good
I did the wheel this spring with a basic black Momo. Had the fight of my life getting the old one off; broke the tool and had to grind off the steel collar http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ic-battle.html
Had to trim the plastic steering columns clamshell as well to get the adapter to fit. I'll be interested if you have to. Best of luck!
Mine came about like any other vehicle I've had. The first time pulling the wheel comes off its always a bit of a B but wow sounds like you had the biggest one of the bunch! I found breaking the T27 screws loose on the backside of the wheel a bit of a challenge. I used a T27 screw driver and had to clamp a pair of vice grips onto it to have enough force to break them loose.... almost like GM didn't want us messing with this stuff huh?
Im pretty sure I'm going to be trimming the the column trim as well even with the clock spring removed. I saw one where they had a cool looking carbon fiber plate riveted to the front of the trim. Kinda had me thinking... and nothing good can come from that

Ok Soooo why not go ahead and start another project! I mean I'm only in the middle of replacing my steering wheel, shocks and shaping C6 splash gaurds so I got time right. Hey I'm not working under the hood let's do something there!
Sanded with 150, 220, and 320 to remove the grain
After 2 coats of plastic primer and 2 coats of filler primer with sanding in between. Time to wet sand again with 320
Looking pretty good, all the grain is gone from what I can see, primer held nicely and took care of any imperfections.
Got some color matched torch red paint mixed up and put into a rattle can for me. This is what 3 coats of color and 3-4 coats of clear look like after wet sanded with 1500 wet/dry paper. Coming along nicely just need to polish and see what the finished product look like.
This about what you want a surface to look like when color sanding. The less glossy spots the flatter and more reflective the finish will be when polished.
This is what a few coats of color look like some may be happy just to leave it alone at this point but if you want a car like shine you need to clear and color sand

And here we are! This is just one pass of the buffer with some Adams paint correction polish only gonna get even better with finish polish and some sealant! Pretty much a red mirror already

Got my new MOMO Jet steering wheel in, not too bad of a job. Was able to get airbag light off with advice from the forum and wired two 1ohm 10 watt resistors in series and soldered into the airbag wires which fools the car into think the bag is still there so no annoying light. Had to modify the column trim a bit took down the ridge where it meets the wheel about 1/8" with a palm sander. Other than that no biggie at all.
