I'm new to the wonderful world of corvettes and I'm wanting my baby to shine. What would be great wax or polish to accomplish that? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
A lot of people here swear by the zaino product and based on all of the pictures it does look really good. Very labor intensive from what I have seen though.
Using Blackfire products myself. You can go over to autogeek.net and find a bewildering array of products and probably a forum member that has used them.
Suggest using a clay bar b-4 using any of the various waxes. This step doesn't take long & pays off in the long run. Enjoy your Vette & remember "The Wave" to other Corvettes!
I also suggest a clay bar, very easy to use on this rounded type of shape, and really gets you hands on with the paint and its general condition.
I have excellent results with Maguire's black wax from the local auto parts store. Very simple to use and looks as shiny as any other car around. I would expect the more time and money consuming products would outshine the regular commercial stuff I use if parked next to each other, but it might be just splitting hairs about the shine. When I ask around at auto shows I get a lot of answers involving all different products, until you get to the big money cars, then a lot of guys don't do personal prep and don't know or won't say.
It's not like only one guy understands how to make car polish. They have been out for a while and I am sure the chemistry is well understood throughout the industry, with some guys probably funding their own research. The black wax product I use is now different , and easier to use than when I first picked it up. I think it has micro incapsulated beads in the carrier, it seems a sophisticated tube of chemicals. I also like that the company sponsors a lot of car events.
Like everything in life, it's not the polish/was you use, but the prep work you do before the polish/wax.
I would recommend washing it first with a product like SCG Surface Prep Wash and then clay the vehicle in its entirety. After clay bar, you can begin to correct the paint. Before paint correction, it's a good idea to tape off trim and things you don't want polish/wax on as they can become stained. After you correct the paint, use a sealant on it, I like the Adam's liquid sealant personally. After that, you can then either glaze the vehicle or apply wax directly.
Once all this is done, it's basically just maintaining the vehicle with proper washing techniques to keep it looking good.
Since trying Chadwicks a month ago I am a true believer.....One product for paint, glass, chrome, interior with pro detailer results....Once I did the original application, it only takes 30 minutes front to back, top to bottom...Wash and polish in one step with no water.
$10 can of Meguiar's Gold Class paste, I like being able to walk in any parts store or walmart and getting it and I love the easy on/off and depth and shine and cheap price compared to others you have to order.

Ordered with a lot of apprehension, decided to test on the rear of the car. It was so easy, finished the car in the time it would normally take to wash it. Shine is incredible and ssooooooooooooo easy.
Getting ready to take my car out of storage and once it is back home the first thing I will do is "Chadwick It" then stand back and enjoy.
